Tav is a very good centre mid

Brilliant corner taker.... thought he had a great game last night...showed heart passion had bite to his tackle...I'm really warming to him...he could be a proper player in the premiership.
It has taken me a long time to get on the tav bus...but I'm on it...
Well-played mate

Hes a great footballer isn't he

Not quick enough to be a top premier league wing back, also can’t tackle, defend or pass good enough to be in that bracket either
Hes absolutely rapid! There was a moment yesterday where he lost the ball and caught up to their player who had a 20 yard head start

FFS some people should have lessons in how to watch football and what to look for.

There are very good reasons to keep Tav in Centre Mid, I'm frankly astonished at people labelling him...
can’t tackle, defend or pass good enough
lack of tackling ability
It is also useful to be able to use him in other roles (wing back and full back on either side), great player for us. But no, I don't think he is better played at wing back.

I actually thought he played well when shifted there last night. Interplay with Crooks was much better and he's got the stamina to get up and down the pitch. Not afraid to get stuck in either.

I think the "tactical defending" side of his game probably isn't at the level to play there week in week out then again the same is probably true of Jones, his pace tracking back gets him out of a lot of problems.

Totally agree with all of that. For me he's the one who's kept up a high level while others have started to look a bit jaded.
He's an excellent centre mid at this level. I think he can do a job at LWB if needed, but on the right he won't want to go on the outside so it limits his game a bit to cutting in.

Muttley, do me a favour and relay my comments in the contexts which I provided them, that he “can’t tackle, defend or pass good enough” TO BE A TOP PREMIER LEAGUE WING BACK.

There’s good reasons he is still playing for Middlesbrough and has divided opinions for this long

To add to that he’s so one footed , he had a break early in the game and his poor control pushed him too wide to hit it with his left ,so he cut back in and was then clearly stumped as he just can’t use his right foot.He does show great pace but it’s usually when he’s dropped a b@llock and then has to get back to rectify his mistake, which to his credit he often does. The problem then is that it takes him time to recover.

It was a poor ball from Sporar. He wasn't stumped on what to do, he was isolated against a couple of defenders and obviously didn't want an aimless launch into nobody.

Rubbish, he was clear and pushed it too wide ,then as I say he can’t use his right foot so the move broke down

Tav has done very well in midfield since Wilder came in. He has been one of our key players.
If Jones is not fit then the question is who to play at RWB?
Peltier is a great lad who lets nobody down, but he offers nothing going forward as RWB.
Moving Dijksteel disrupts a solid threesome partnership at CB, similarly McNair.
Fisher is injured.
Spence is long gone.
To me Tav can play there and did very well there last night in the second half. I think he is our best current option there if Jones is out.
It also means McGree gets a midfield start.
