They are building a replica of the Sutton Hoo boat used in the burial of the Anglo Saxon king. I bought a rivet before Christmas, you get a nice badge and certificate and newsletter with a progress report. Am hoping Ipswich get promoted and so I can visit the finished boat next season. Of course we have our own Sutton Hoo. I would recommend anyone looking in at the Anglo Saxon Princess gallery at Kirkleatham Museum. It is like having our own crown jewels now securely housed in the museum. Then drive to the cliff top site at Loftus where the Princess was buried with her jewels and on a bed with gold fittings for over a millennium.
Here is the start of the Sutton Hoo newsletter from this morning... "Welcome to the third edition of The Sutton Hoo Ship's Company Newsletter. Many of you are receiving this as kind sponsors of a fixing or oar. We are very grateful to say that 34% of the fixings have now been sponsored. Our aim is to reach 100% as soon as possible so that all sponsors can follow their rivets being added to the reconstruction."
