Supporters Meeting on Monday - Your Input Needed

Can the league cup replica/other items be put in a more accessible location on the odd match day here and there so that supporters not in the hospitality area get chance to see them? Could raise money for charity with a photo opportunity to boot as well, pay what you can so no-one excluded.

What about a really cheap ticket offer where tickets are sold for a fiver each? See if we can get a few more in for some of the lesser lights in the league. Or allow season ticket holders to buy a number of tickets for a £1 each - something to try and get people interested.

Could the meeting be opened up on Teams/other tech so that supporters can attend and see what’s being discussed?

From last meeting we were looking at two things -
fan suggestions around matchday experience. Thoughts on how it could be improved before/after game.
I have passed on the thread referencing supporter concerns over covid and watching Boro.
I would still like to see the journey made more of a thing. Partnering with local independent venues on match days as official matchday venues. It can cater for people wanting beers or some food or even a coffee. Discounts for ticket holders for the game. Make the whole day the event and let it benefit good local businesses along the way. Most peoples match day experiences are a tradition and away from the ground it would be good to celebrate that. The experience at the ground needs to be better before the game if the club want people to go there earlier. A decent presenter and big screen. All post covid stuff though - I just want to get back to the game now to be honest!

Secondly, how does everyone feel about Boro Brick Road. Names are fading away now - the club is exploring options trying to contact the company that sold the bricks etc. Looking at whether a virtual plan is possible. Are there any other thoughts on this that might be doable. It seems, rather worryingly, chemicals in the air have had a corrosive effect on the lettering on the bricks. The report made several years ago by the brick company concluded it wouldn't make any difference if the bricks were laid down as a road or on a wall they have been attacked by chemicals in the air.
The Brick Road is a memorial for most people/families. A major change in format will upset people. I appreciate that a wall might be better and more cost effective but I think the club should restore them. Any future bricks could be built as a wall.

If the company assured the club in writing that they would last and they haven't the product has not lasted a "reasonable period of time" and they should still be liable for restoration - I am sure the club is looking at that.

Thank you for the contribution.

For those that have bricks, would you be prepared to pay for the restoration of them? Or pay something towards them? Or even pay for a new brick? Just trying to get a feel for what supporters would like to happen or what is a reasonable approach to this.

Yeah, I would but in all honesty I’d resent it. Not a brilliant PR move to have players taking home tens of thousands a week but splitting the cost of restoring a memorial to loved ones, that you’ve already paid the club for. But I’d rather pay something and keep them in good condition.

Not sure how others feel?

Prob because they want to try to get people to stay around after the game.
In 2019/20 some of the Kiosks were shut after the game and in general they wanted you out by 5.15pm. In general I don't think they wanted too many people staying around. The half time thing was more to take pressure off the kiosks and encourage fans in early, in my opinion.

edit - Just read pre match pint comment by Gibbo.

In the early years of the stadium the police weren't keen on people staying around too long after the match but that has long gone. Now, of course the football club would like fans down early and some staying on afterwards if possible. They are looking at working with fans on this and are open to suggestions on working together on making the matchday as much of a full day event as possible.

Clearly there’s no Boro Pride or similar scheme in place for this Saturday. Was anything discussed on this topic?

It's been mentioned on here before but building on the outside Boro Bar and making the entrance area more of a festival feel from lunchtime onwards before a match. Music, DJs, kids rides, food, drinks, ice-creams, football stalls/games, big screens showing the earlier kick offs. I know you can't do this all year round and is weather dependant. But they could use outside heaters.

Or they could be really ambitious and build a canopied covered area outside the Riverside so that it was weather protected.

The minutes were finished last week - but need everyone to approve them. Earlier this morning this was being chased up.

Lee Fryatt - Head of Commercial and Ticketing is looking to come to all the meetings this season - so it is an opportunity to ask him some questions and also hear about the reasoning behind policies etc.
