Supporters Forum Meeting - Agenda Items Request

.This is what we are working towards in Middlesbrough - with myboromyshirt - following the lead of mycitymy shirt in Cardiff working with Middlesbrough Supporters Forum, Borderland Creative, Middlesbrough Football Club, MFC Foundation and Middlesbrough Council - to put Boro fans in the picture.
First phase - is getting as many fans posting their pictures as possible on social media. We will follow this up by getting a photographer to take 30 fans in their shirts against landmarks - and this will then be an exhibition that can tour.
Alongside that we are collecting in Boro anecodes as MyBoroMyStory - am working at present with senior Boro fans in different community groups. We are also putting together a fanzine working with some Middlesbrough people (and Boro fans) with learning disabilities.
Finally the hope is to have at least one mural in town but pictures linking the town to the club on the routes. The wall that has been pointed out in this thread could be ideal.
We are also going to do some little films of fans travelling to games.
Cardiff mycitymyshirt were responsible for both the murals pictured here - both iconic images now in Cardiff and that is exactly the kind of impact we are looking for but alongside that we will have an online gallery of photos and stories - we might publish that and the fanzine also.

I should say we would welcome any help - both from anyone sending us their selfies in Boro shirts but also to help working on the project - something that we will take our time on over the next year I suppose - no time limits.

We have an awareness match coming up on March 18th when we hope to get the message across with several selfie frames around the ground and tshirt workshops in the family zone. We are launching a big design a Boro tshirt schools and community groups competition this week - and the winners will get prizes of Boro tickets and a visit from Roary to their school.

The club need to take a longer term view - it's vital we have youngsters hooked at an early age who will then contribute throughout their lifetime. At the moment if you can't get into the GRFZ it's quite expensive to add an U11 child on to your ST. At Christmas I couldn't get my kid a shirt from the club shop and I can't get the GRFZ deal as it's sold out and has been for a while now.

We have some of the most expensive STs in the Championship in an area of severe deprivation, a cheap ticket for a kid is not going to mean the club cannot compete. If youngsters don't get hooked on the Boro then they'll find another team - the barcodes up the road will gradually look more and more attractive as their dirty Saudi money buys them big name players the kids want to watch.

Raising adult prices any further would be outrageous, unsustainable and self-defeating. We have loads of empty seats every game - get something for them, get some more money through the tills of the concourse and get the next generation hooked.

its just simple maths and logic they need to put prices up to help cover the loss on running costs.
they were citing a high number of concessions breaking the average ticket revenue after tax to around £12.50 per ticket,

but you want them to discount them even further to family zone prices and the consequence of that would be that the non concession tickets need to go up in price, its simple logic, they need so much money from the gate receipts so give it away on one ticket and you have to add to the others or take the hit and bring in the same money. If they were taking a hit they wouldn't be putting the season tickets up.

They have already stated they are very high on concession tickets way above average so i do not think they are neglecting the young fan base, the reason they are bringing in just £12.50 per ticket after tax is because of all the kids that are going who make up the majority of the concession tickets

So they probably do not think it needs addressing, they may extend the family zone if they don't go up but think that is best case scenario, but putting the kids revenue down would mean they need to find it from elsewhere and only the adult tickets to squeeze in their place

I published a lot of the figures that I was sent by the club in the fanzine on Saturday - just so that everyone could get the breakdown. But Steve Gibson does want to extend the family zone.

The answer is not putting prices up - we already have some of the highest prices in the league. If it's not accessible for kids to get an ST with their dad/grandad etc etc then the future of the club isn't looking too good right now.

For me is would be Riverside era, cup finalists, promotion winners, cup winners..

I couldn’t be doing with Gasgoine tbh.. I don’t think I could be bothered with Merson either

One of the issues regarding segregation is difficulties in the concourse - the stadium wasn't originally designed for the away fans to be housed in the East Stand - so it is not where the dividing line in the concourse would have been leaving toilets and food/drink hatches on the wrong side of the line.
The away fans have been there for quite a while now. Surely this issue could’ve already been rectified?

It can’t cost the club much to solve this issue. It looks terrible.

We got a full explanation tonight. Which will appear in the minutes but also they are actively reducing the segregation and also we are not losing capacity.
But the minutes will explain when they apoear.

I think it’s clear that that there are a lot of issues that need resolving but in terms of the kids pricing it’s counter-intuitive.

There’s clearly a demand for cheaper tickets and we also don’t fill the stadium even when the team are doing well.

I generally don’t like easy, simplistic ideas for what might be more complicated issues but let’s give it a go. Not season tickets but let’s allow single match rates around the ground until maybe the play offs and hopefully more!

How much will that be? £15 & £28?

To be fair electronic ticketing is the norm nearly everywhere. Even Bishop Auckland had it. Look at trains, planes, theatres, cinemas.

One thing that would be awesome would be to have less prison like turnstiles. Why so narrow and such high metal bars? Never understood that. Makes it very unwelcoming for some with certain disabilities in my experience with my daughter.

There is no excuse to rely on paper tickets any more. I can get into York City using my phone and their scanners are the same as ours I think.
You can even get into Marske games with a QR code and we are way down the footballing ladder with nowhere near the same resources the Boro have.

The club do not believe in match by match ticket offers. They don't believe they work as a means to retaining the customer. I can only see it happening if we're somehow still in with a shout of 2nd and need results in the last two home games.

Could the club look into being able to sort moving seats online rather than in person or over the phone? It's a little bit painful at the moment and pretty inefficient.

There will not be any offers this season - think that is a fair assessment with crowds steadily increasing.

One complaint and it is tiny but I find the music is killing the atmosphere at full time, as soon as the whistle goes every time it’s that Gala song on full blast. I know the people who I sit next to feel the same I think it’s just unnecessary and does stop the fans who want to chant straight after.
