Supermarkets - Safety

Since last week local chemist had a 1 in shop at any time policy. Trouble was a bunch of older folk congregated around the door making it nigh on impossible to get past them without touching. I asked them to move aside and they seemed aghast that I would make such a request. When I did get in a new older person was dropped off outside and marched straight in disregarding all the notices and the group outside. I explained the situation quickly & saying she had to leave and join the outside people waiting and she started squawking and had to be told the same by the staff. She then shouted something at the staff & marched off to the car waiting across the road.

A great many people have no time for anyone but themselves.
A product of the me me people. Judging from the crowds in Whitby last weekend there are far too many of them.😞

Just been to drop someone's repeat prescription off at Norton Medical Centre, have a walk out and get a litre of milk at the Co-op.
The few who are out are all being sensible, keeping two metres apart, no rush to get in and out.
Paid for my milk by card (feels odd to not use cash for a small transaction) and just as I'm about to leave, security had to accost a couple of women in their late forties/early fifties who were attempting to steal a bottle of Jack Daniel's. Obviously, any chance of maintaining social distancing for the staff and security went out of the window.
No doubt these two were hoping to exploit the situation and this sort of thing will be happening in all stores.

Went into one of my shops in the town centre yesterday - it was dead.
We had a security guard on the door and I asked the manager if that was really necessary.
‘Absolutely’ she said. We are one of the only shops open for miles around - the thieves are desperate.
Had £1k of spirits nicked last week in another shop during all the carnage

It is so quiet today tho - maybe the penny has dropped or freezers and sheds are full

Not convinced it would. Behaviour as it is you'd have people going down an aisle they don't need to get to one they do. Just creates bottlenecks.

i could see it working in my sainsburys local, theres 4 aisles, go up the one you encounter as you access the store, down next, up next, down next and youre in the queue for the tills, people flowing through rather than encountering each other
