Sunderland v Leeds

Like to have a look to see whats going on their forum from time to time and it seems its a bigger game than the Wear Tees Derby according to some of their fans ... really?

Fair enough Its the battle of the 2 biggest attended teams in the division but 1973 seems a long time ago now

Leeds probably view Sunderland as their main rivals too don’t they. Not Man Utd or any of the plethora of Yorkshire clubs. After all, it is the mighty Sunderland.

I actually reckon most Leeds fans would have them below Chelsea, Cardiff and Millwall as well as all of those above.

When is it?

Night after we play Hull so nearly a month away. They are raving about the high ticket sales as there's next to no chance of Leeds being able to buy in the home end. Its 97 miles its like us getting excited about playing Sheffield Wednesday!

several "sendings off" (or is that "sending offs"?)

I've always said the latter, but you've made me wonder if I've been saying it wrong? Next thing you'll say is that no one stands up to wipe their Harris after a number two!

(Apologies dear readers, but since the post was about L**ds and them up the road, my mind went all scatalogical)

If you're a certain age it is one of those iconic fixtures; it brings back so many memories: John Montgomery's saves, Stokoe running on the pitch in his raincoat. It was a massive upset of the era's most fearsome team when the FA Cup final was the biggest game of the year.

Jimmy Montgomery. I remember it because it was the last time I cheered a Sunderland win.
