I feel like that every time Sunderland play. But occasionally, very rarely, if I start watching them in a big match where they are clearly underdogs, I find myself going ‘come on you makem b***ds!’ and I start rooting for them. It feels dirty and wrong and like I’m cheating on my partner, but it happens against my will.
Maybe it’s just a North East thing? I just love the North East me, and North East people. Living down south made me realise how decent the majority of Makems and Geordies actually are too. And how little we have to cheer apart from our football teams.

Fair play to them, but I'd definitely have been rooting for United tonight if it was the other way around.
