Sunak's Wife Has Non Dom Status

Lifted from the bbc:
Domicile has nothing to do with a person's nationality," said Professor Richard Murphy, co-founder of left-wing campaign group the Tax Justice Network.
He added: "Just because a person has Indian citizenship will never automatically grant them non-dom status in the UK."

Clear choice to avoid tax.

As I said on the other thread

I think it’s one thing to look like you’re taking the p out of the people buts it quite another to actually being doing it for real.

Illegal no

Immoral most definitely

Could I buy a property on Isle of Man and say I was a Isle of Man citizen and pay tax on any pensions in the Isle of Man, but still live in the UK most of the time? Or alterntively have a job (where I said I was working remotely in the I of M) and avoid UK taxes by declaring myself non-dom, but still live here most of time?

Does the 42 day rule not apply Sunak's wife?

To me if someone lives here most of the year in the UK they pay tax here on their total income. Otherwise its tax evasion.

I heard that too. Right at the end of the interview when asked if there was any other possible reason for Nom Dom, status apart from the tax advantages. He replied that tax was the only reason for its existence.

Rishi cant recover from, i think his time is done as a politician He seems quite touchy about people questioning his wifes financial affairs, even the tory press have got in for him now, hopefully the digging will continue. This is the man who spent 400k on a leisure complex for himself on his 2nd home in richmond, not his 7m Kensington home or his wifes Californian abode, whilst he took away the 20 a week universal credit uplift, he has zero compassion or empathy for anyone.

Another tory turned to toast.

Who on earth can they turn to when Binfire Johnson gets pedalled.

They sink lower at every turn they make. Even their own media are sick of them.

Admittedly, I have only read the first page of this thread so far … but I see the Tory apologists are getting more and more pathetic.
‘It’s just you old boy Labour people knocking anybody who isn’t Labour.. blah blah blah’
Again and again and again.
Shows a real and complete lack of understanding of the situation and state of play, currently.

After the disliked spring statement and his refusal to give Johnson more spending money. There’s been what seems like an organised series of leaks against him. Obviously trying to remove him from any leadership future race.

And Liz Truss has kept her head down for a few weeks

I do wonder if Johnson saw Sunak as a threat and the spring statement was actually Johnson's doing to make Sunak take the fall, and resultant popularity hit.

Interesting that this all comes out around the time the FPNs for partying at No 10 are being dished out. That whole scandal started from the garden party photos that were taken from No 11 and presumably leaked by someone close to Sunak. Is this payback?

Do you think the tory party couldn't quite stomach a indian in no10, they does seem to be Cummings level leaks , or us he just the tory cost of living crisis patsy?

They can and have done anything they want.
Look what Boris has done and he's still in the seat.
Have you forgotten Boris got voted in. One of the biggest political buffoons ever to grace the Commons
Born with a plum in his mouth with nothing remotely in common with 99.9% of the population.
And don't forget many of the same idiots voted for Brexit.
The average halfwit doesn't care.
Tragic but true.

Akshata Murty is probably worth £1bn - A 7% return on that wealth is £70m a year income. She could be paying only £30,000 a year tax on that, because she can say that income on her wealth is not generated in the UK. This highlights a typical tax problem we have. It happened under Labour as well as the Conservatives. I didn't even know such a status as non dom existed in the UK for UK residents (not necessarily UK citizens) - until 2019. Some non-doms have their status passed down from generation to generation. Maybe children should be taught about these things in Citizenship classes under British Values. I would add in the Apple, Amazon, Googles etc that also don't pay tax on their profits in the UK. But if ordinary people earn only £13k a year they pay both National Insurance and Income tax.

Not sure what the story is here, Indian person marries Great British person and pays Tax on her GB earning to GB but not her overseas earning.

It's supposed to be granted when someone intends to go back to their own country, when does she plan to do that
