Sun`lun v Wycombe Wanderers League 1 play-off Final Thread.

I hope for a Wycombe win! Travelling back on a BA flight Thursday night one of the female air crew from Chester Le Street was getting rather excited- told her I thought they would lose!

For both clubs and both sets of fans - they have both earned the right to be here over a long long season.

History is junk - whether the media calls you a "big club" or not.

Sunderland have a history of failure and decline from which they are rebuilding, where as Gareth Ainsworth and his side have had the time of their lives in recent years.

Bookies "underdogs" or not - Sunderland fans may pull them over the line, but hopefully Wycombe dont lay down for them.
I`m sure they wont.

How must it feel for these Wycombe players?

For the younger players and those who`ve never experienced the play-offs or playing at Wembley, it must be like living the dream>>>>>>>

This morning local radio had some audio of the Mackems gathering and chanting in Trafalgar Square last night. Got me thinking, when did this tradition start, who started it and which clubs do it? Is it just a northern club thing?

Boro have done it the night before the game every time we've been down to Wembley to my recollection.

Not too bothered about the result today, although selfishly speaking I think Sunderland are more likely to challenge than Wycombe at the top end of the championship.

Started with the ZDS Cup, there was a big meet up there on the Saturday night and they just carried on all night. The last play off i was working at the Garrick and sometimes went in the Spoons just off the Square for a post show pint, so the Saturday before the play off I warned their Gov'nor what would be heading his way and showed him the threads on here and COB. He called in extra staff for all day Sunday and up to kick off time Monday. Went on the Tuesday after the match to see how it had gone and he had a haunted look about him. he told me the Sunday and Monday went brilliantly and by the time of kick off he broke all the extra staff as they'd managed to clean and get the place back to normal. I asked him if there'd been a problem, and he said yeah, they all came back after the match and stayed till midnight!
