Talk of qualifying being abandoned today. The f3 race is currently suspended due to rain.
If that happens , and there are too many support races to do Sunday qualy unlike they did in japan last year, they will use the free practice 2 times to decide the grid.
That'll mix things up a bit. Hamilton 6th and Vettel 16th

Yeah. Although I’m confused now. Yesterday they were saying: if qualy and fp3 are rained off tomorrow this session will effectively by qualifying because of all the support races. Today they are saying qualy COULD happen Sunday morning. I assume they’ll ditch the Porsche super cup (or is there an F3 race?) to make way for it

As an aside I’m fascinated to see what racing point do this year. Their technical directors said most teams have concentrated on development for the new regs, whereas they put all their effort into developing the current car. They kind of have to succeed

The new regs are delayed until 2022 now as well so they could be in for a bumper year or so.
Yup, could have been a really lucky decision. provided they've got this car right! To be fair it does seem to be getting closer to the big 3

Haven't they basically carbon copied the Mercedes from last year?

Crazy to delay the quali when it was dry as now the rain has started.
TV timings I guess qualy had to start at 2. Couldn’t push it forward even though the track was dry. Mountain GP and hilly GP tracks are fun but they are very weather dependent.

Yeah. Pretty much scrape the pink paint off and it looks very similar. Probably not a bad car to copy. I wonder how many bits Merc give them when they send the engine over?

Which, it would appear isn’t very good in the wet!

I don’t think Russell will ever expect to qualify a car built on the worst car by far last year ahead of both copies of the best legal car from last year! Racing point will not be happy with that.

Somme interesting gaps between drivers. The racing points, the red bulls and the Minardis had huge differences between their fastest driver and their slowest

I think they didn't used to get gearboxes and ancillaries but now they do, so it made sense to package the rear end as Merc do. As Merc don't run high rake like everyone else they needed a new front wing, so which front wing and cape set-up would be best to to copy to match the rest of your Merc set-up?

The team principle did say we had been copying the Redbull aero philosophy for a couple of seasons and nobody mentioned it, but we've followed Merc and improved so now its wrong.
