I appreciate that Heam44, I explained that I don’t see either as full backs in a back 4. Defensively both were regularly found wanting and allowed a ridiculous amount of crosses to be put in every game. Full backs are in part there to stop that happening in my view. They are talented with the ball moving forward imho, less so without, hence why I personally believe we were and still are short at full back amongst other positions. I guess it is down to what you consider the attributes needed are.

Yeah fair enough, I’d like to think they will both improve defensively with more games and experience, I certainly hope so anyway.

I am not joking. I am being realistic.

The championship is a hard slog and we have lost some our senior professional players. Ayala, friend, Clayton, Rudy.

We are weaker than last season.

I think we only have two perhaps 3 players who are good enough. Spence, Coulson and Howson.

Covid saved us from relegation.

Rudy was a senior professional, very vocal.

When we got promoted with Robson in 98 we had a team full of captains. Players like Maddison, Merson, Pearson, Townsend, Hignett.

I think we have Howson who is that leader. That is.

We are a poor team.

I wanted Warnock when monk got the gig.

Hall fits that mould, hopefully 1 or 2 of the new signings will do.

But I’d bet anyone we won’t sign 10 players or be involved in a relegation battle with Warnock as manager.

A manager is far more important that any player IMO. Warnock will have most players playing better than they did last season (some to a large extent, others to a lesser extent), we will be organised and pragmatic and I think next summer we will be surprised exactly how good some players were.

Ultimately we will be a completely different proposition from last season.
 
Reading the Gazette tonight; two strikers and a midfielder! So I guess we've abandoned the search for width and guile, don't need a left back, no experienced centre half for cover and the goalie's fine!! Hmm!! Not impressed...

You do not challenge for promotion unless the right players can play the way the manager wants them to play. He also said players may get sold / offers . Which opens the possibility of Britt , Fletcher , McNair .or others going out . In Warnock I trust .
Love his interview , He enquired about a striker , they said he wants £35k pw , NW , we don't pay that ,good luck , they then came back this week and said he would take £15k pw , but NW said , no thanks I have found someone else .
He then said he enquired about another player and was quoted £1.5m , to which he replied , I was thinking £400k . Love it ! He is like a kid in a sweet shop .

Well considering most supporters thought our main issue last year was the manager not using the good players correctly and being clueless, it's amazing how we are saying we need loads of players.
of the 9 players no longer here only 3 were regulars others like Morrison played virtually no part. And at least not having / playing Gestede means we will have 11 players on the pitch.
We do of course need a few players, but there are a few weeks yet before we need to panic, and buying loads of new faces does not always work, look at Sunderland struggled with regular mass churning of players.
