Stop sign stolen. Not a crime?

some people desperate for a bit of money. Like the police say no reports of a crime and how do you vandalise something that doesnt belong to anyone. Keep a look out on ebay.

A removed stop sign, a safety hazard? What happens if there is a serious crash if one person doesn’t stop as there is no sign?

Or maybe it was all a set up, an extension of the artists work if you will a la the piece that shredded itself…? 🤷🏻‍♂️

I thought that to start with, but if Met not looking into it, the actual sign must have been installed by Banksy and not be a real road sign.

Looks like a real sign to me.
No doubt the local authority bods, who ought to be complaining, are at their Christmas do…

Especially as all the photos are registered to PA Media.

No resale value on a stolen Banksy. I saw that once on Antiques Roadshow. Someone had taken down a Banksy and he was told in no uncetain terms it had no value any longer unless somehow bought legitimately.

Surely it belongs to the local highways authority. They will have to replace it at cost plus labour, likely outsourced to a maintenance company who will charge a small fortune for emergency/ non routine works.

Unbelievable comments from Bob Law. It's nothing short of theft and criminal damage.

I must correct my post above, I was under the impression that the whole sign was placed there by the artist. Definitely a crime to remove a road sign belonging to the highway authority.
