Stoke v Boro Match thread

Tough game away for sure. 🧤 The Potters have furthered strengthened their goalkeeping resources by signing Andy Lonergan ex boro boy.

They are had a couple of years almost mirroring us. They spent a few quid and have some big earners trying to get promoted.

It's all gone a bit t*ts up with poor manager selection and really over paying on a few players. That said the old manager is having a blinder at Luton.

They have plenty of 'match winners' and it's definitely a difficult game for me (harder on paper than Huddersfield). I would probably take a point as long as we keep winning home games👍

I did a limerick about Andy Lonergan being on loan with us on the old board.

Wish I could remember it.

The trouble is at the top with Stoke, having spoken to a few Stokies I know. They rested on their laurels after Pulis getting them to the cup final, let Mark Hughes spend a load of money, then removed the money and they began to drift. Kept Hughes on far too long and four managers on they are still holding on to quite a few big earners who couldn't be sold. They've ended up with a lop-sided squad, but Michael O'Neill seems to be getting a grip of it in the same way Warnock has here - brutal pragmatism.

We've got a decent record at Stoke, I think the game will swing both ways tomorrow. Expect a score draw.

O'Neill has them pulling together. He has dropped the offensively overpaid passengers completely and got much more out of a couple of old stagers. The team had an average age of 21 at Wycombe my Stokie mate tells me.
They are without 8 players tomorrow. Hard to feel sorry given their squad size and wage bill.
The young players from academy and U23's are doing it for him. Campbell is also a very good player.

It will be a tough test tomorrow, but I think we are capable of winning there again and won't get beat.

Hope you’re right!
Tough game this, I’d be happy with a point given stokes form and yet we are capable of winning easily if we’re at it and watmore turns up....
Excited already!!!
