Stockton Globe Announces New Shows

Earlier in the year they were showing people around the building and the woman who runs the place said they would be putting theatre type shows on as they do in S'land etc.

So unless something has changed its in the plans to do them.

I'm only going from what I was told. but happy to be wrong. I can only see them bringing in smaller scale productions and don't know who's going to be promoting such tours for the foreseeable future.

I couldn't care less who they've got lined up, I just want that those temporary traffic lights gone!

I think that looks good and will be trying to get some tickets for a few of those shows, within a (long) away so a few drinks as well, beats driving to York or Leeds. I can recommend Jools Holland, you wont be disappointed. I also fancy a look at the Waterboys, Steve Hacket. Possible Midge Ure and John Bishop. ITs,local so why, not?

That's not bad these days. Sure I paid £65 for Costello at their gaff in Sunderland. That said I would pay that again what a show he put on. Think you went DCI_Gene didn't you.

Costello was great show.

Waterboys tickets at £40 is perfectly reasonable but the reality is booking through the Globe web site it's a £3.65 transaction fee per ticket and a £3.65 transaction fee to complete the booking. That's for e-tickets as well so there's absolutely no postage or other costs involved in the purchase. A total rip off. 2 x £40 tickets works out at £90.95. I accept agents have to cover there costs and make some money but that's obscene & I won't pay it.

I think they can take seats out to have a standing area at the front and then seats behind so yes its 3000 max and a few less for some gigs

Im not up on comedians but I'm sure those mentioned all play the Town Hall semi regularly. It does make you wonder if the Globe will seriously affect the Town Hall as a live music venue.

I think it will take business away from the Arc as well. Attached to the new Globe is a bar and stage with capacity for about 200 I think. Ideal intimate venue for a comedy club, or acoustic performances.

They did say initially they wouldn't do stuff that competed against local venues as they wanted to work with them. But f they started doing gigs at 250 capacity level that will seriously affect The Georgian Theatre.

I saw the Waterboy's about five years ago and they were pretty decent.

Steve Hackett doing 'Seconds Out' will be pretty special and will be a sell out no peoblem.
