Stockton Calling - who are your 'must see' acts?

Not started listening to those who I don't know yet. Of those I know Tummyache, Benefits, Circa Waves, Sleeper were good last time I saw them so maybe them as well, Panic Shack are great.

Clashes will take care of most of those😭
Is clashfinder out yet

The Silver Lines. Played with them a few weeks back and they were brilliant. Reminded me of Future Islands.

Also looking forward to Silvi & Weathership. I keep seeing that Sarah Johnsone’s name appear so I’ll head to see what the clamour is about.

Only downside is my band are playing NE Volume stage at 8:30, so I’m staying off the beer.

I sometimes think I should make an effort to work out in advance who to see, but in reality I'm happy enough to just wander around and catch bands at random. If I like them I'll stick around, if not I'll move on again. It means that I tend to see a lot of part-sets but, having a short attention span, I'm fine with that.

This might be a year I wander around randomly. I used to do that and enjoy it immensely. Once I started dragging my young son with me he wanted to work out the optimal route and he didn't want to miss out on a rising star. Well, he's old enough and experienced enough now to work out his own route and wander round on his own (and drag a couple of friends who trust his judgement), so I can do what I want again.

It's a cracking line up just based on the 20 or so on the undercard I know.

All three headliners are very good. I've seen Circa Waves quite a lot since lockdown, so I probably won't do them this time.

Times are getting posted on Stockton Calling socials from 10am tomorrow.

Started listening tonight and have done 3 Stages so far. Arc, Ku, Georgian. There is only about 4 bands at the three stages that I want to see and three are headliners. So they will clash. On to TKASG stage at Arc 2 next and at first glance this looks much better. Made playlists for each stage which I will post later.

Turns out I’m not off to see Sarah Johnsone now as we’re playing the same time as her 😩

Turns out I'm going to see bands based on their cool names and a traffic light system made up by my self that allows a maximum of three tight 15 minute breaks between bands, ie need to go straight away, four 30 minute breaks enough for a cheeky pint and of 2 relaxed 45minuite breaks that allow for chatting, urine breaks* and pints.. six pints in total..

What I would say (apart from come to see us instead of Tummyache) is if you’re wanting to see Circa Waves, people tend to head to the venue of the headliner they want to see a band or so earlier so they’re guaranteed to get in. Arc’s a big room so may not be as much as a problem, but there have been instances where venues have reached capacity a few bands before some acts and it’s been hard to get in 👍🏻
