Still booing the taking the knee

So yesterday both teams did not take the knee and there was no booing. Don't know if it was decided before hand by players or not but on one hand I'm pleased they didn't take the knee as it was Preston's Gentry day and it would have been not only disrespectful to players taking the knee but to Gentry day for Preston. On the other hand I'm disappointed the knee wasn't taken because I'm wondering if the players gave into the booing.

A message still has to come out from the club either way on the booing and further work needs to happen on anti racism
The question you need to ask is do Preston normally take the knee?

Edit: A quick Google gives you the answer.

Preston stopped taking the knee in August 2021, so it wasn't done specifically because we were playing them, thankfully.

Hiya
I have raised the matter with club in person today and via email and given them suggestions on ways they may want to tackle the matter. Trust me when I say that they are listening and are looking to take action. I can keep you all informed, however I'm hopeful that I won't need to as you will see action soon from the club.
Out of curiosity what were the suggestions? Genuinely interested.

Call over a steward. That's what they are there for amongst other things.
Not the complete answer though is it Randy?
Can be difficult cant it: hearing six blokes booing behind you, then fetching a steward and taking him back to the six blokes and pointing the finger at them.
A little unsafe dont you think?
We have to be a little more creative and workable.
Thanks for your contribution.(y)

What would you suggest to weed out the racists?
I don’t think it’s a simple as that, so many different facets to what is going on here.

Does booing taking the knee make you racist?
Why do people boo the gesture?
Do people have a right to boo taking the knee?
What effect does the booing have?

Why did we stop?
What did we do instead?
What are we going to do to address the issues?

Personally I do think people have the right to boo taking the knee, its unpleasant and makes us look like a bunch of racist morons but the gesture has now come to represent a lot of things for some people that were not necessarily for what it was intended.
There is an element of ‘them’ and ‘us’ that goes hand in hand with football tribalism, rivalries etc.. those who kneel and those who don’t taking away the sentiment behind the gesture there is a part of that involved.

Maybe a fan survey would be a good idea? An introduction to the gesture, where it came from and what it means.. Colin Kaepernick, why he did it and the effect that had on his career and why so many athletes and sports stars want to show solidarity with him.
Should we bring the gesture back? What does it mean to you? Is it too political? Has it lost it’s meaning?

I actually think it is more simple than that
If you boo taking the knee you are proactively booing a very short silent peaceful request for racial tolerance - rather than just looking away as you don't agree with it

What is complicated in terms of why they are booing?
Of course the whole issue of racism is a very big picture, but choosing to boo is not
People don’t understand what the gesture means. You say it’s for racial tolerance I would say it’s for equality.. others say it’s marxist, lefty, wokeism.

People who hear it and see who it is we need to start reporting these racists to get something done about it. We need to start doing the right thing no matter how difficult it may be, it isn’t grassing or telling tales it’s doing the RIGHT THING!!!

The club can't really stop it but need to come out and condem it , let the racists know the club don't want them in the ground.
are they racist tho?

Why did Kapernick originally do it?
In 2016 Kaepernick kneeled during the U.S. national anthem this was on the back of several shootings of innocent people in America and the murderers getting off scott free.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of colour”

He spoke with a fiend of his in the military who suggested that taking the knee was a sign of respect for fallen comrades.

He started the the end of the 2016 season, causing great controversy and was out of contract in the 2017.. I don’t think he was picked up by any club because of the surrounding controversy snd wasn’t picked up until 2020.. he still might be without a club.
