Noticed him on the Arsenal bench today...

Always seems to have been part of successful teams in the main...
Lots of experience, Boro, Everton, England, Man Utd, Newcastle under Allardyce, Villa etc.

Thought he might get a chance somewhere...maybe Boro would be a good fit ?

Exclusive: Steve Round on his Middlesbrough conversation with Steve Gibson and Jonathan Woodgate before Arsenal switch

Former Middlesbrough assistant Steve Round says he had a conversation with chairman Steve Gibson this summer but was never offered a contract to re-join the club.

I thought he’d turned us down but this says the offer wasn’t made strange that he’d meet and no offer made though.

Hartlepool mail exclusive! Maybe He asked for too much money - priced himself out deliberately. Multitude of things really.

He's had a good career as a first team coach. Seems an intelligent lad so why take a manager's post which will be a lottery away.

Of course he may want to test himself but I'm always reminded of Don Howe. He was top class coach and motivator but was a lousy number one.

Maybe ,he's got a good job at Arsenal, they have the makings of a fantastic side, IF they keep Aubameyang and sort the defence out..

From what I hear things are VERY tight financially at Boro
Maybe that's it, Round wanted too much £££££
We won't be making any big money buys anytime soon...

Agreed. They have the makings of a good, hungry young side there so why not be part of that.

He's probably earned very good salaries as a First-Team Coach since his Boro days with McClaren. Why bother attempting to become the Head Coach/Manager. Not many manage to make the step-up successfully.
