Steve Gibson open letter to Derby Administrators

Sorry, but I think Gibson's letter is pretty awful, and I say that as someone who doesn't give two hoots about Derby going to the wall. I understand why he's done it, but it's whiny and most of what he asks for are things he has no right to know.

1 is none of his business.
2 refers to himself in the third person!
3 is none of his business
4 will come back to bite him, because if he's trying to make everything else public then he really needs to say publicly what his compromise offer is
5 is none of his business
1+3+5 if it's none of his business then Quantima/Derby should stop leaking his name and blaming him.
4 What planet are you on, he wasn't the one continually making this public. He's kept largely quiet for 2 1/2 years

I meant in the context of this letter. Gibson is demanding the administrators make public their confidential financial negotiations, which will obviously invite the question "what is your compromise offer"

Fair enough - that's your opinion... it may not be the best letter in the world...... but he's defending himself and his club and Boro fans, so in my book that's good enough for me (y) (y)

I don't think he expects any answers, I think the point is to make others ask those difficult questions of the administrators who have failed to find solutions to the problem, so have started trying to raise the temperature on the outstanding creditors.

He is not really doing that. He's using those questions to highlight a number of very serious issues which as yet appear unresolved and represent a serious stumbling block to the sale of the club. His last point is exactly what I explained to my son. A significant number of smaller creditors owed small sums (but significant to those creditors) will get nowt whilst the administrators will trouser millions at no risk whatsoever to themselves.

We therefore invite you to respond to the following questions by way of an open letter.
  1. MSD (a lender) is owed a significant amount of money by Derby County which is personally guaranteed by Mel Morris. If Derby County went into liquidation, Mr Morris would have to settle the debt and therefore he has an interest in resolving the matter. Please confirm the current status of the discussions with the lender and Mr Morris about the debt and the transfer of Pride Park, which is owned by Mr Morris, to any purchaser of Derby County.
  2. You met with Steve Gibson in November 2021. It was agreed at the meeting there would be a continued dialogue between you and Mr Gibson. Why did you not then engage or communicate with him at all until Friday 14 January 2022?
  3. As noted above, you give the impression that the sole issue that is left to resolve is our and Wycombe’s claim. Please confirm that you have reached a settlement with HMRC and the basis of that settlement.
  4. Contrary to what you leak to the media, we have made an offer to compromise our claim and met with your nominated representative last weekend. Please confirm that this is correct.
  5. Please confirm how many millions of Derby County’s money you have spent on your fees to date and what additional debt you have incurred.

Go on Gibbo - 100% Behind you

Haha, he's well mad
It’s clear the sale of pride park an identity kit stadium to ours for such an inflated fee really hit A nerve.

As well as a proposed Ugo mural, where will Gibson's mural/statue go? - Needs to be as big as the Angel of the North in my opinion

I think the whole point of Gibson's claim is to force the EFL to admit they have failed to do their job properly. The compensation will be a relatively small value but Derby will have to admit we are football creditors which means they will have to accept responsibility and admit cheating by making up stadium valuations which was dismissed by the EFL tribunal. I think the only thing Gibson wants is for the EFL to actually take their own rules seriously and punish clubs that break them. It is unfair for the teams playing by the rules and if the EFL don't want the rules to exist then they should get rid of them. It also makes no sense to only punish teams that fail in their gamble of cheating when the ones that gain the most from the cheating, the ones that cheat and successfully gain promotion, are massively rewarded and face no punishments at all. The EFL should really make it a rule that clubs are within the rules at the end of the season as a condition of league placing. Any breach should result in the punishments being applied in the season that it occurred which means no illegal promotions.

Am I the only one getting a bit bored with all this now? Nothing Gibson says is going to appease a section of Derby fans and the administrators should be working to get these potential sales done by next week. In the meantime we have a couple of big games #utb
