Steve Cooper reported to be under pressure at Nottingham Forest

Big game for them tonight, at home to Fulham. Such a huge investment in their squad, however I feel it would be VERY harsh to dismiss him after the wonders he worked last year.

I'd imagine Kieran and Steve are keeping an eye on that situation in their Wilder succession contingency plans.. (can't stomach the bloke personally, wouldn't want him as our manager).

Hope Fulham win, I'd like them to actually stay up for once.

Would also like Mitrovic to score a decent number of goals this season to totally discredit the meme that he can't do it in the Premier League.

All of the above also might, and I stress might, help with us having a glimmer of keeping Muniz permanently.

It raises an interesting question on whether or not liking the manager of your team on a personal level is important or not, if they get results. On the flip side is it important to managers to feel liked too?

Warnock wasn't everyone's cup of tea and his football was largely forgettable, but he had a certain charm. Pulis, again, terrible footballing ethos but he made attempts to speak well of the area and linked it to his own upbringing. Wilder, in theory (ignoring recent form) has a brand of football, that is far more attractive, but it doesn't seem to be on his agenda at all t try and be liked particularly, he is here to do a job and that is it. There is no connection. If results pick up, does that lack of connection in either direction matter? I suspect not.

If (and that word is doing a lot of heavy lifting) someone like Cooper came in, got us playing and winning, but remained a smarmy git in interviews would we care? It strikes me that most managers like to get fans on side as it is a bit of an insulation policy during the harder times. Wilder, who hasn't got that connection, riled the fans last year with his eyelash fluttering in the general direction of Burnley, may find that it bites him on the backside if results keep going as they are.

I think you need to look at McClaren here - presided over our most successful period ever, but would get pelters for:-

1) his teeth
2) his hair
3) his saying "magnificent" in interviews

Some of us hated Warnock, as he both didn't get results but came across as crass, arrogant and bigoted in interviews.

I personally really like Wilder as a bloke (obviously how he comes across, I don't know him although I did meet him at Rockliffe and he was sound with me and my Mrs, had loads of time for us). I enjoy listening to him generally.

What I don't like at the minute are the results and a larger than acceptable majority of the performances. That's why he's under pressure, nothing to do with him as a fella.

But he brings people together and looks like the type of person who reflects on his errors….in that he seems to be a thoughtful person.

I’d be buzzing if we captured him !

Why do you dislike him out of interest?
