Worn gegs since i was 8.Of course it was a foul he had his arms out
I understand you have an agenda but if you’re seriously saying that’s not a foul then you need glasses.
That wasnt a foul - he flapped and landed on Gayle.

Get that, but this thread is about Steffen, you can hardly blame him alone for us just taking 3 from 12, although you haven`t specifically blamed himIt doesn’t matter really, we’ve taken 3 from a possible 12 so far.
Definitely a foul and by the way on the evidence up to now he looks a very poor keeperWorn gegs since i was 8.

clearly never played the game. Keeper should be skimping raising his knees and if Gayle decides to jump into him like that he comes of worse. He was fouled yes but he was still far to soft and it’s happens a few times with him. He has to be stronger and be more dominant in the air.Wiped Gayle out? You mean, fouled him? And if he did ‘wipe him out’ and the referee gave a penalty then presumably you’d be happy with that?
FFS. It was a foul on Steffen. There’s no debate to be had about it.
But I would agree with those who don’t feel *that* confident in him yet. That one he pushed out into the box was stupid. Still early days of course but he does need to sharpen up a bit IMO.
100% a foulFlapped all night.
and it was never a foul to disallow gayles 'goal'
He hasn’t been playing under 23s footballWe are part of his education. He needs to learn how to deal with the physical stuff, you don't get that sort of stuff in the U23s and you probably don't get as much in the PL. I can see he will be a top keeper, the weaknesses he as (which I cannot argue with) he can improve as he learns. I think with a stable defence in front of him he would do better. I suspect by Christmas he will either have learned strategies to cope with the physical stuff or he will be watching from the sidelines. I think the former will happen.
Oh and to the doyle arguing that Gayle didn't foul, a question.
Really?
It was a foulStrapping big bloke to get 'fouled' by Gayle like that, not having it.
He also went over to check if he was ok, as he knew his arm had also hit him in the face.It was 100% a foul on him for the disallowed goal, it's crazy for anyone to say otherwise, Gayle leapt in to him with his arms up and pushed Steffen's arms down.
The fact that Gayle didn't even put up a hint of a protest when the ref disallowed it says it all.
But he looks very shaky on crosses and isn't filling me with confidence right now.
His distribution is good and he's made some smart saves already, he needs to improve but he's still an upgrade on Lumley.
More stability would be great but he's been stable enough, for this division, and hasn't really cost us much yet. If he was more stable he wouldn't be in this league. In fact he probably shouldn't bealready, as there are plenty of sides trying to play possession football with a keeper insistent on launching it (like how Ten Haag keeps shouting at De Gea, calling him a F***ing d*ck head for punting it). After a year with Lumley, we need stability and a keeper who the defence (and fans) can trust and from what i've seen so far, he isnt it.
Strapping big bloke to get 'fouled' by Gayle like that, not having it. His kicking distribution is excellent, best i've seen in years but he flaps at anything coming into the box, and parried for Lewis when they should have scored, and should've came for the cross for their equaliser. He's had a poor start and with a really good young goalkeeper on the bench i think it's time he got a chance in the league.
He nearly got lobbed from half way in his first two games aswell.
BehaveFlapped all night.
