Steel making - looks like returning to Teesside!

Yes it is great news. It won't take long for the doom mongers to come along and try pick faults as it a tory mayor as per usual

Been talk of an electric arc furnace for years, well before Houchen was elected and if it does happen it will happen regardless of who is mayor, nothing to do with Houchen at all. I'll give him that his team are clever at taking credit for things that would happen who ever is mayor.

South Tees today have the land which they never had in the past.

Grants are more forthcoming now than in the past too as some politicians in power have suddenly discovered where the River Tees is.

I am not bothered about names and personalities, just want the area to fight back and a better life for ordinary people.

I voted for the Sirius Minerals deal yesterday which gives me a nasty financial loss but hopefully means the mine will be finished.

For a man ( I presume you are a man) who complained about the number of non football related threads on the new board a week or so ago, you don't half jump quickly all over any non football/political thread that gets posted on here. All over them.

It doesn't have to be built on SouthTees land, was always intended to be built on private land, and I agree that they appear to be grants available now when they haven't been for the last 10 years of this Tory government, but we have no idea on what conditions, so I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Why don't you read that thread in full before posting snippets. I said why not keep them all on one board and I also said I did not say I don't like discussing politics and I will respond to political threads.

You are one of a number of posters seemingly incapable of reading a full thread

Any jobs are good news, but is an arc furnace is possibly not for the steel making many think... isnt it just a scrap metal recycling centre before onward shipping to china or Turkey?

Not the best news then but yes still good news. More jobs, regardless, is to be celebrated. Especially in our region.

Presumably the furnace is for all the scrapped diesel and petrol cars. Ironically this can't be good for the old global warming. All that scrap burning (wherever it it is done) then the energy-hungry electric furnace.
