Starmers biggest problem.

Boris is a brilliant TV performer.

He may be full of BS, a committed liar, in my view personally disgusting, has no substance , policies for the few, but he does know how to perform.

Same as Before, notwithstanding I don't agree with your statement, there is not a hope in hell that the tories stick with Johnson until the next election.

Agree with SAB
Behind it all though he is being schooled by Cummins who has a brilliant track record of getting Johnson et al to say the right thing and make sure it is believed by enough people.

Laughing - your point is an interesting one.
Just feels like when it comes to the crunch we will need an awful lot of Tory MPs to accept the risk of losing their seats by dumping the ‘winning team’
Long way to go, I reckon

His problem is those brexiters who will forgive Johnson anything because he got brexit done, thousands of excess deaths, corruption , don't do as we do do as we say, none of that matters "cos he got it done" .

No he isn't a great performer because his repertoire is too limited. He can only deliver when he is reciting from a script. When he is speaking off the top of his head he huffs and puffs and harrumphs his way through until people start to zone out and forget what it is he is addressing. Often when being questioned he looks like a rabbit in the headlights and loses his temper when he can't find an acceptable response.

Bullocks. I voted leave but don’t vote Tory. What you should be doing is calling out remain voters who still voted for the tories for selfish reasons.

Before one of the tossers come on. No I didn’t vote for UKIP or Brexit party either.

I think some, who are blind to his failings, will still see him as a good performer. Many others who once found him to be entertaining are now disgusted by him. Some of his perfromances though have been utterly embarassing, whther at PMQs or the daily briefings. Even the most staunch supporters must've been embarrassed. I have no doubt that the Tories saw him as a man to win the election and get Brexit through, but not much else. I'd say Starmer will be worrying the Tories, and they would ideally like to see someone more savvy in facing him (Christ knows who that would be though).

In terms of Starmer's biggest problem - i'd say his biggest problem is that a large number of the population are disinterested in facts and considered opinion.

I certainly don't see him as a brilliant performer. He was very disciplined when he was required to stick to 'Get Brexit Done' or Oven Ready Deal' but when he departs from that it's as if he has stumbled into conversations on subjects that are new to him. I know the bumbling is all part of his act but I'd previously thought that it was to disguise his limitless ambition or real intentions. I now think that it's just laziness, poor preparation and that he is nowhere near as bright as I'd thought he was.

Labour lost seats in Northern strongholds where they was a strong leave vote, judging by the ones I know Johnson can be forgiven for anything.

I hadn't realised that 2 million Tory votes were voters who had not previously voted. It's unlikely the Tories will offer anything next time to get those 2 million people to the polling station.

Johnson is actually at his best when he is lying. His big speech today he pledged to build build build our way out of the coronavirus, going on to announce that £12bn would be spent on housing over the next eight years.

Yaaaay I hear you cry. The only problem is that in the budget a few weeks ago that figure was going to be spent over five years. His big announcement was actually a cut, but that's the way the modern Tories operate.

This is the problem. I also agree with the OP. Starmer is a better politician than Bozo by an order of magnitude. Sadly that doesn't matter in this country. There are too many stupid, uneducated and uninterested people who don't bother grasping what happening. They see bozo banging the dispatch box and shouting "whiffle" whilst the backbenchers cheer and assume he's doing well on the back of it.

It's genuinely , extremely depressing.

It is, so the Labour hierarchy need to match the scruples of Cummins and his ilk? Some sort of shady campaign by a faceless analytical company that spreads lies and dis-information memes on social media that puts the emphasis on acting in your own self interest to 'get things done'

He is entertaining and has a unique charisma. In small doses. I'd argue the more you see of him, the more you realise it's a one trick act. I suspect Cummings knows this which is why he's kept out of the public eye as much as possible.

Its probably more the charisma of an after dinner speaker. Not sure it's what you'd expect to see from a PM. Although enough people must buy it.

I think he's a snake myself, but I can see why people fall for the act.
