Starmer should tell the teachers to strike

Agreed. There definitely should be at least some priority given to those who are being asked to work on the front line - supermarket workers too. I can't believe this isn't obvious.

Shouldn't it be up to the teachers and their unions to call for strike action ? They've got the Health and Safety Act on their side.

What do you think about other front line workers?

Such as police? Fire service? Supermarket staff etc?

I guess the only difference I can see is they will be in a room of potentially 30 others without and PPE in place.

These other professions are allowed masks/ gloves etc.. and will generally be in contact with people for less duration, although possibly many more people.

I think the wider benefit for teachers is that it may reduce the risk of a class having to close/ school bubbles closing which has much wider economic benefit that perhaps a supermarket worker or single police office contracting covid.

I think the risk groups is still the sensible vaccination strategy, though I don't think it has to be one or the other.

At least some one on here has some brains

Yes if he wants to commit political suicide. The Tories would rightly point to playing political games during a national emergency and latterly point to it as dancing to the tune of the unions.

Of course this is EXACTLY what Jezza would have done.

KS IS a prat - simple
Calling for strikes is another ridiculous thing to say.
I'm not a Tory but wouldn't like to think KS was running the country.

If the data shows that teachers or pupils are more at risk of catching and spreading Coronavirus then schools should simply not open and teaching unions should help support this action, but that does appear to be debatable- Linky

Maybe teachers could be prioritised within their age groups? Or bumped up an age group. All the evidence suggests that it affects over 50s much more seriously (hence the current roll out plan, which makes sense). Probably not sensible to vaccinate 30 year old teachers ahead of non teaching O55s or O60s, but could bump them up the order a bit?

You share their main characteristic, I'd be surprised if you didn't vote for them.

Teachers should have been vaccinated. They're spending many hours in an enclosed space with a lot of other people.

The police, fire service and supermarket workers aren't doing that

He hasn't called for a strike. Who would you like to see running the country?
