Starmer sacks shadow transport minister for appearing on picket line

Some people are really Tories but know it's morally wrong to be a Tory so the Labour party being the same as Tories is an easy way for them to have their cake and eat it.
And there we have it. Thoughtful words of wisdom from the caring left. Zero lessons learned from the brexit shambles. Not the way to attract a groundswell of opinion towards your cause folks.

Sad to see but the bigger problem is that he feels he has to take that stance so the right wing media can't use the strikes as a stick to beat labour with
That's the discussion we should be having , why are so many working class people on the right so against workers fighting for a fair slice of the fruits of their labour

have you considered that Nano may not be in the business of drumming up support for the present Labour party? Apart from that there is nothing in that post to take offence at.

Starmer is a stooge for the establishment that tries to pander to the media. He is no threat to them or the corporate execs thet seem hell bent on the uk winning the race to the bottom for its people. Sadly, there is no real choice now for the public. Its tory or tory light. When people only have that choice they dont vote for an ideology, they vote for a policy that is important to them then sod the consequences. The world is going one way and anyone who thinks they have a say in that are somewhat deluded.

I don't like the decision but if you have been told specifically NOT to do something by your boss (whatever it is) then there is little doubt about the probable consequences if you do. IMO You don't have to stand on a picket line to support a strike unless you are one of the strikers. When I've been on strike I haven't stood on a picket line for more than a half an hour it's pretty boring and on a wet day in Darlo it's downright unpleasant.
Agree but also the flip side if you feel strongly about something then moral compas/principal should take over and accept the consequences

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right.
Majority of the UK electorate are stuck in the middle.

These middle of the road folk are the 'king makers' in selecting government.

If a party leader's ambition is only to be leader of the opposition then they can safely pander to the right or left and be safe in the knowledge that it won't really matter.

Prop Representation would be a big improvement on our current system...but you can't effect any move toward that if you continually fail to make it into government.

Labour need to beat the tories at their own game in the first instance. They need to attract tory voters with a sensible (moderate) message.

Or they can roll around in the political wilderness forever, threatening to do something - one day.

Needs must - get on with it Labour. Get electable.

You can support the strike without being on the picket line. Starmer was right to sack him. The only disgrace here is Sam tarry who was elected on a Labour ticket then ignores his leader.
You are aware of the genesis and raison d’être of the PLP, aren’t you?

Starmer really is just an empty suit. What would be different if he was in power? If he hasn’t got enough about him to be clear about what he stands for how on earth can he lead?

Was going to say the same. It's disappointing that our country seems to be jns uch thrall to a bunch of right wing billionaire media owners. His stance on Brexit is too airy fairy as well, dancing round it so as to not upset the Red Wall. I just don't know what the alternative is. All I know is we need a progressive consensus and get these Tory ***** out ASAP.
