St Leger

Spectators arriving. Not a lot of social distancing going on at the front of the queue.

Our infection rate was 2.6 per 100,000 cases, can't see it staying that low. Thank you Johnson you f***ing halfwit!!

16,000 over the four days Harry, although the Director of Public Health has just said he is reviewing the situation. I reckon that no crowds will be allowed in after today. He is concerned that they might use the St Leger as a final chance to congregate in bigger groups in the town centre.

So it’s Johnson’s fault people are selfish or stupid? Everyone knows what they should be doing by now.

Unless you think we should still be in full lockdown until the economy is complete ruined and no one has a job.

The Governments guidelines are erratic and confusing I agree. However, the racecourse is both an open air and under cover event (inside the stands). People failing to self distance is the individuals fault not the Governments or the racecourses. I expect there will be similar photo opportunities at football grounds in October. Come the final whistle, everyone wants to get home (or wherever they are going) and some people will not care about those around them as they rush off, outside these venues will be interesting once such events are finished.

In private homes peoples behaviours are likely to be more relaxed and less risk aware and there are no officials to ensure people do the right thing. I understand what the Government are trying to do. I do criticise how they have gone about it mind, they do lurch around like a ship in a storm without power.

Do you really think people will be back at football grounds in October?

If test and trace were working properly it would be a lot easier to persuade those who need to behave responsibly at home and in private. These blanket restrictions and quarantines seem almost impossible to enforce, the younger generation have had enough of them and the relatively well middle aged will bend the rules to suit themselves - following the lead set by the government!

I don't think it's so much as the younger generation having had enough of them so much as people's lives are being ruined. I mean there are people on zero hours contracts. People struggle to get a roof over their head. Lockdown and social distancing can be very very hard. And I mean people need to breed! People need to go out and interact with other people.

Didn't you advocate committing crime to feed your children before actually even considering that the Government should have assured that wouldn't need to be necessary? As such I'll take your comments with a pinch of salt.

Not advocating the go ahead for this event at all, but it seems that pretty strict measures were put in place that the event hosts had to pass before the event could go ahead

That being said the Doncaster Mayor has been strongly against holding the event for some time now and what with national figures rising in cases I think the Mayor is justified to raise objections.

I`m not convinced that the attending public can be trusted to follow the rules and if the full 4 days goes ahead with spectators I`m sure that reports will come out of some sort of rule breaking/trouble for the organisors and their staff.

People are disobeying rules because they are not law and purely voluntary, especially social distancing and self isolation. Make those 2 mandatory and it will help.

Agree with that, there comes a point where lock down measures aren't sustainable if people are to do any more than just exist!
