Spurs prepared to move on from signing Spence!

Alternatively, he could stay at Boro, be instrumental in getting another team promoted then get his move to the Spuds for £35m next summer with all the extra financial benefits that will bring him.

But Spurs haven't had a bid accepted?

They can't legally speak to the player and agree terms without our permission, why would we give them that leverage/advantage without getting what we want out of the deal? (I know agents do it all the time)

If Forest 'really' want him and Spurs aren't making an offer at all currently what's to stop them sticking a 'take it or leave it' offer in to ourselves and Spence?

If Spurs don't bid, then Spence would be back training with us you would assume?

What have Forest got to lose if they do actually want him? Even if they offerd £8 million and £4million in add ons if they stay up etc.

They were desperate for him it seemed, lots of Spurs talk in the press, but no Forest talk at all, seems weird.
i think it rubbish the way it works because the fee agreed should be first thing that happens but reality is that agents are sounded out and have been told what sort of fee would likely be accepted and whether the player would want the move to the prospective buyers

modern day football and i think all clubs probably do it to some extent.

if we cant agree a fee with anyone or we do and spence turns down that move he will have to honour his contract and return to training for us.

Id play him at his own game, sorry 15 mil or not for sale and we move on. He cost us nothing and I know we need the money but I'd say thanks but no thanks.

Gibson should get his mates at westham to place a bid like sugar did at spurs which ultimately got the athletico move done and dusted

I wouldn’t take bets on who that will be! But bet it’s not Levy

Depends on what you consider to be the buckle - DL sat there smug & satisfied with himself for not signing the attacking right back they need & their - soon to be previous - manager had wanted... saving a few £ million & the £10-12m Boro rejected.... & another year of no trophies for 'mighty' (deluded) Spurs... as they exit CL at the group stages, get knocked out of League & FA Cups & vomit down the PL table... when Levy calls time on another manager - still nice stadium, "go De'fence" always the annual NFL to enjoy...

De-fense...........

I can’t believe we’re living in a world where a player like Spence can have 1 decent season (5 assists, 2 goals at Forest) after being average at best for the rest of his career to date, and be linked with Arsenal, Bayern, Spurs at £20m.
I know he’s young and English, and how that helps but come on. I preferred football when £20m bought you one of the countries best players.
Or.....an entire football club(y)

I've said it before on other threads and I'll say it again here... Spence is not worth £15 million. We're living in fantasy land.

If they want to pay 10m, and we want to sell for 15m... Meet them somewhere in the middle, get him sold and and move on.

In fairness he is worth whatever clubs are willing to pay for him. If Spurs want to pay £10m and say they aren't going any higher, they soon will if another club come in and offer, say, £12m

I imagine a lot of what is being played out in the media is all bravado. We will get what we think is a fair price, whether thats from Forest, Spurs or whoever. Likeliest scenario will be fee being undisclosed. If he goes to Spurs then the press will say Levy has brought the price down but I dont think he will have. He will pay whatever the going rate is.

It seems that two clubs have already bid the asking price according to a poster OneBoro, but Spence wants to go to Spurs.

This will end up with Spurs matching it, no doubt about it, or he'll have to go elsewhere.

This is the worst case scenario that I feared. If Spence says that he will only go to Spurs, then we either have to take what Spurs want to pay or bring him back with all the bad feeling and disruption that will cause.
We are best taking the £10m and try and agree some add-on clauses if we can.

What happened to all these CL clubs that were falling all over themselves to sign him during Forests FA Cup run?

I didn’t watch much of Forest this season but are we finding out that the media hyped the situation a bit? Was he really as good as was made out?
