Spurs open talks on Spence

I'm guessing our best bet for getting a decent fee is if Forest are promoted. As @The_Lizards_Jumpers says the Arsenals and the Tottenhams are in the position where they can say here's 10-12 million take it or leave it as he's untried in the top division, whereas Forest will be new to the division, need to sign players quickly and won't have the choice that some of those other clubs have. In that situation we are in the strong position and could have their eyes out.

I think between 10-15 up front is a realistic amount. I laugh how people throw around 25-30 (I've seen higher).

I'm sure it's more the structure of a deal. I'm sure we'd take 10mil up front rather than 12-15 over the length of his contract. It's usually not 'champ manager' money you see straight away. The majority is often over the length of a contract or until they sell the player on.

I just hope the 10mil isn't all we could get. I pray we add some add ons. I'd say at the very least 1-2mil for a full England cap and more so a 10-20%sell on clause. Just one good season at spurs (especially with champions league) and he's worth 40mil+. You'd hate to get none of that.

That or they would buy out the clause if he's doing well. Although that didn't workout so well for Southampton and Bale😂 (extreme case I know)

If the fee is £10 million, that will be upfront, I'd imagine clauses and future fee's will see any deal up to at least £20 million, if a bidding war ensues we could be looking at a very handsome pay day
I wouldn't be wanting the add on clauses, I'd want it all up front, or a high fee as staged payments. He'll get figured out in the Prem in no time, and will end up back in the Champo.

I don't think so. Spurs ( along with other clubs) have been watching him for months.

Hahah this is quite funny, on a thread a few months ago you were disagreeing with me saying clubs don’t watch targets for months. When they clearly do. So which is it?

We need to do a Levy on Levy. Set our stall out at £15m, starting point. Remember the Berbatov transfer with Man U - there's our template 👍Absolutely no point in selling ourselves short - as been said, how many young one season wonders have gone for £15-20m +?
The deal will probably end up around the £12m + add ons based on appearances, cup wins etc etc etc, but ideally we need another couple of clubs seriously interested.
Think the Forest fans would go ballistic if they went up and didn't sign him, so from a business point of view probably better for us if they do go up, spend a big chuck of their PL riches on him.
Interesting.

Wan Bissaka £50m.

Ollie Burke went to Leipzig for £14m in 2016.
Bellingham went to Dortmund for £22.5m and had literally just turned 17.
Ryan Sessegnon £24m at 19.
Ben Godfrey went to Everton for £25m at 22.
Maddison went to Leicester for £22m at 21
Webster went from Bristol City to Brighton for £20m.
Watkins went from Brentford to Villa for £31m.

I'm not saying Spence is better or worse, but they are just examples of people gambling on potential.
If multiple clubs are keen on Spence and with the hype he has had and Forest's meteoric rise then we should get £20m for him.

Also there is no way Gibson would prefer £10m up front versus a lot more on a staged basis. He books the whole agreed fee as profit in year 1 anyway on Spence, Fry, Tav, McNair, Jones or whoever is sold without a current book value.
I have a nagging worry that there may already be a fee agreed with Forest, but that would have been a dumb thing to do. I think those days are gone.

Sessegnon, would be a great swap, or a season long loan as a deal sweetener
No way that Sessegmon will be going anywhere now that he’s basically cemented his wingback role in the Tottenham side. He’s 22 years old, and I’d say that Spence would more than compliment the right side of midfield where they lack a dedicated wingback as they never replaced Kyle Walker.
