Spreading rumours on here.

Is it acceptable on here to say that you are passing on a rumour (no doubt hoping for a self-fulfilling prophecy), when by doing so you are clearly fuelling that rumour, and all of it's consequences? The subject of any 'fake news' is also a victim of it.

Its just a message board, you have to accept people can and will spout any old *****.

There will be rumours of Woodgate's sacking after every single defeat from now until either a) it actually happens or b) we have a huge upturn in form and he makes his job safe. With each one backed up with a brief sighting of a former manager, or potential successor, at Rockliffe.

It’s a football message board ffs, if it wasn’t for rumours and hearsay etc most people wouldn’t bother coming on these things. I like rumours, I normally take them with a pinch of salt but I still to like to read and hear them. It’s part of being a football fan. There is a difference between someone posting a football rumour and a troll coming on and spouting utter *****.

'There is a difference between someone posting a football rumour and a troll coming on and spouting utter *****.'
Not really - the vast majority appear to fit in the latter category

I think there is a clear difference. If a regular poster says I have heard this or I’ve Just read this and shares what they have heard or read I don’t see that as trolling.

but if a random poster or someone who rarely posts on the board and posts a rumour on the board without explaining where they got it from no one would believe it and would file it under the utter ***** category.

Agree with this.

For example, if I ever post a rumour about Craig Hignett, Arsenal or Michail Antonio, then there very well might be something in it.

Anything else you read from me will be third hand and/or made up.

Like yesterday for example , the Steve mcClaren rumour was probably nothing in it at all. But I thought I would share it as I seen it mentioned from a poster on another forum who seems well respected on there and seems to gets bit of info passed to him. I wouldn’t of shared it I didn’t see it as a decent enough source .

Jut thought I'd look up the definition

Rumour 'noun'
'a currently circulating story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth'

I've never got an issue with anyone sharing anything. I just thought this one was definitely made up (not by you).
