Spoiler tags how-to

This is a quick guide on how to do spoiler tags - I'm doing it from mobile but presume same icon in desktop just probably not tucked away

click on these 3 dots here;

the click the mask icon;

this will then insert the bb code into the post, which will obscure the text you put in the post until someone manually clicks it like so:

if you clicked this you smell like cabbage

some points to note;

* if your post is replied to or quoted, the spoiler tags will remain intact on your nested quote (the alert that appears in the post made by the person replying)

* if someone replies to you or quotes you, whilst they are composing their reply they WILL see what you wrote

* if avoiding spoilers I wouldn't interact with any post that had spoiler tags in it

* people with email notifications on won't see spoilers in their notifications

* images can be spoiler tagged too

I'd generally say it's polite to put key details of a show behind spoiler tags as someone will always not have seen it, and if an episode has just aired then any story advancing developments behind them too. It's up to people if they want to read threads where you would expect spoilers I guess!

Blimey. Isn’t it easier to write:

“This post contains spoilers so don’t read on if you haven’t seen xxxxxxx “

😂😂😂😂

Yes of course it is, but you would then have an extremely long thread title and people who don't want to read spoilers can't discuss the show. We've had double posts on here before, one with spoilers and one without.

Pushing a button isn't exactly a hardship, is it?

It's just the same thing as in the morning , before my eyes have cleared of crud properly ,and I'm trying to read the early forum posts of the day to to set the tone of my day 🤷‍♂️

How do you do a spoiler with the red 'Spoiler' box instead of blurring it out?
