Split the Championship from the Football League?

A dreadful idea. There is only too much football for the champions League and uefa cup teams. Champions League teams are richly rewarded and can afford to have two XIs. 18 teams isn't enough.

The media interest does not focus on the premier League. It focuses on arsenal, United, Chelsea, City, Spurs, Liverpool. The likes of Burnley and Southampton rarely get a look in. This is because these teams - especially Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool, attract thousands upon thousands of armchair fans, who subscribe to sky, watch the YouTube channels, and read the articles, all of which is visible to advertiser's, which is where the money is made.

The championship is shown on quest.

A simple rebranding, and an attempt to snaffle more money isn't going to see a surge of Brentford or QPR shirts in Malaysia or Nigeria. It already was rebranded as the championship. All that has done is add a further layer of confusion by renumbering the divisions again. And all the extra money will simply see mediocre footballers pocketing more cash, more ludicrous transfer fees, and more money for agents.

Spot on.

I'd prefer to see the big boys moved on to a European Superleague, and the rest of us play on a more level playing field.

Absolute nonsense article, but what else do you expect from the Guardian.

Middlesbrough are a modest 18th but Jonathan Woodgate’s sweet-passing, risk-taking side regularly excite neutrals.

Total b***ks.
