358 consecutive appearances for the Boro , most of them excellent in an era when full backs could tackle let’s say, zestily, and on the wing too up a down like a rocket, not stood at the back with 3 other blokes helping.

We will not see the likes again. Therefore…

I’ll allow our ‘enery as he once threw a playful pretend punch at me in Woolworths, honest! But it’s more than the stroll of the slapheads, That Walter white out of Breaking Bad is offside as he is much more bullet headed. So them’s the rules.

He was just before my time of properly going, but his name was always being mentioned by older family members who had watched him, you would see his photo constantly in the gazette in match reports and when I did start going on my own and with mates he would get mentioned, he cast a long shadow and is a true club icon and legend. I hope something fitting happens on Saturday not just a minute's silence or applause but something from the stands as well.
