Speeding cop cars on Redcar

Today, about 1pm, tootling into Redcar near Aldi when siren wailing police car came hurtling round bend towards us
I thought at first it was chasing a car which didn't slow down but then there must have been at least 7 more bombing along, lights flashing and sirens wailing. Wtf!?!?
Went on beach at Marske but chilly wind made us pack up and visit South Gare. Pleasant surprise to witness massive ship carrying oil rig into Teesport.
