Watched this last night and it is one of the best films i've watched recently, James McAvoy is superb in it. Didn't know this but it is a remake of a 2022 Danish film that I have never seen. Would describe it as a horror/Thriller with a comedy touch to it. If you are at a loss what to watch, I highly recommend this.

I thought it might have been a remake of the richard pryor/gene wilder comedy from the 80s

I heartily recommend you watch the original.

I thought it was a sequel. Featuring the previously ignored member of the three wise monkeys.
We've got three wise monkeys on here - See no evil, hear no evil and speak a load of evil. ;)

I have three posters in mind that fit this bill and I am sure you all could add your own different three wise posters.

I enjoyed it. An unsettling film which had me on the end of my seat throughout.

I did feel the final act was a bit too Hollywood, in the sense of the families actions and ultimate conclusion to the film.

Still would give it a solid 8/10 though.

I watched the original on shudder before I watched the remake. I went into blind and absolutely no spoilers or even what it was about.

A proper slow burn 'horror' that is very unsettling to watch. The ending of the original...Jesus Christ talk about brutal🥺. I'll leave it at that. One of the most fecked up last 15mins I've seen in a film.

I was intrigued to see if the remake would have the minerals to have the same ending. Especially as it was going to cinema. They didn't. It's a completely different final 3rd act. I'm hardly surprised (if you've seen other original you'll know)

I thought both were decent. Yet the original definitely goes all in. Especially on that ending.

Think I'll give this a watch tonight, been meaning to watch it for ages but the kids always take over the TV with Rings Of Power, Deadpool etc.....

if the kids are naughty then let the kids watch it haha!

based on the comments I am definitely going to have to watch the original, although I suspect I may have ruined that by watching this one first.

Remakes which in my opinion are better than the originals:

The Departed
Oceans 11
Heat
It
Casino Royale
Dune
Scarface
Wizard of Oz
The Thing
Ben Hur
Lord of the Rings
Cape Fear
The Fly
Man on Fire
Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Titanic 2

I'd also put a star is born onto that list. Bradley Cooper is brilliant in that.

It was brilliant
I thought it was much better than original
And I thought the original was really good too

Couldn't include that less than a week after Kris K died. Too soon 🙁
Although that was itself a remake which was better than the original so it could have meant either.....

I'll agree with you on one or two of those but not the rest. The remake of Dune is slightly better than the dreadful Lynch version but it is still a load of sh*te. Completely disagree with you on Cape Fear. Wouldn't know about Casino Royale. Bond films bore me to tears.
