Southampton want Braithwaite....

Nah, he's just been a beneficiary of circumstances, like a souped up version of Ben Davies at Liverpool.

Barcelona have been trying to move him on since the season they bought him and would never have looked at him in a regular transfer window.
Even without the Barcelona move he was still playing and doing well in la liga, a far higher level than he left here, and will almost certainly move to another top league after Barcelona, even without the Barcelona seasons you don’t play in those leagues without being a good player

Weren‘t they a bit desperate at the time?

I agree his career would indicate he can play but In my opinion he didn’t show anything for us.
He looked decent at first but his career with us was over the second Pulis came in, same as many other players at the time. Probably another one that would really stand out under someone like Wilder

Perhaps, I think as a club we are sometimes too quick to write off some players and yet persist with others beyond the point of blind loyalty.

Apparently Braithwaite is the richest player at Barcelona. Him and his wife have a very good property portfolio in New York worth $180 million at least.
So maybe playing footy is a hobby for him!!🙂🙂

He really wasn’t, would you want to play for Pulis? Can’t blame any striker for getting out of that as quickly as possible
He was hardly committed under Monk to be quite honest. Anyway didn't hurt Traore playing for Pulis. If you are good enough you can make the best of it.

It's an absolute myth Tony Pulis killed his Boro career.
MB had an absolute hissy fit over the style of play and demanded a loan move that January.
He then came back in the summer and Pulis played him and he hit the ground running (With Pulis tactics) then surprise, surprise he wanted out AGAIN, didn't get his loan move and pretty much sulked until January.
If it was only based on Pulis when Woodgate came in and the club made a big deal about him coming back then he was just gone.

The consensus was good riddance and for good reason. Man thinks he'd better than he is

Or he is significantly better than some of our fans want to believe on here? Same with the Spence situation
Spence was developing - Braithwaite was close to the height of his career.

I always thought Spence was a decent player, strong and quick.

If Braithwaite did not want to here from day 1 he would not have signed, even for a decent salary (£35k/week?). if he was Barca standard he would have had a pick of clubs to go to around Europe.

This is 100% correct. A lot of players get a good move when they leave Barcelona purely because they have played for them. They have been trying to get rid of Braithwaite for the last 18 months and literally cannot give him away as nobody wants to touch him.

Yep i think anyone would be very disappointed in their new signing from Barcelona. He was only there due to very specific circumstances. I deal with a couple of Danish lads through work and they always thought he was useless.

Had no fit strikers and La Liga allows clubs to sign them on emergency from other La Liga clubs, and every player in La Liga has to have a release clause.

Braithwaite was the striker with the cheapest release clause.

Didn't Barcelona have the choice of Braithwaite ans Stuani and went for Braithwaite? Madness.

No player's talent can be measured in a binary sense, despite people continually trying to do it on here.

He clearly had something when he was here under Monk, but Pulis wanted rid and that was that.

His Barca xfer was a little fortunate, because they could only sign La Liga players when he moved, due to the circumstances at the time.

I think he'd do ok in the EPL; he isn't going to be a superstar, but he'd hold his own for sure.

Barca are a complete basket case at the moment and there's been a smear campaign against a number of players who they want to either sell, or agree to reduced contracts.

Its a stellar club, with a glorious history, but the way the are doing business risks them going out of business.
