Southampton dropping like a stone...

I watched the game Nobby, Southampton were awful until the last 5 minutes or so. Mind Everton weren't much better, other than set pieces.

Does anyone remember when they were printing those ‘stop the count’ T-shirt’s because they were too after 8 or so games? Embarrassing.

They should have enough to stay up, 3 more wins would do it.
They play Sheff Utd next so really need to win that...
Danny Ings has gone right off the boil

I think they will stay up, but, Sheff Utd do turn in some quite good performances, oddly enough. I have watched them a couple of times this season and they looked better than their position suggests.

I hope they stay up and have more interest in the form of Fulham and whether they can catch Newcastle ... I think Saints will just about have enough to stay up when it comes to the crunch. They have been in the wars lately though, no doubt. That 3rd bottom place will be going to either Fulham or Toon .. imagine Fulham actually do catch them :ROFLMAO:

Crazy to think Southampton were top around 7 games in and now they’re 7 points above relegation this season really is the most unpredictable we’ve had in years. The fans want the manager gone.

The majority of Saints fans don't want him gone. Saying "The fans want the manager gone" just isn't true. (Except that SOME fans want pretty much any manager gone from any club, at any time)!

They are certainly on a terrible run (1 win in 14). However, they finished 2020 as the 4th best team, and fans still respect that. The fans are also fairly aware that Hasenhuettl is pretty constrained by a lack of funding for new players, a small squad and some injuries. (I don't think he's even been able to bring in his own assisting team). That said, I think some fans feel like he doesn't have a plan 'B'. They play a 4222 or similar and press, but other teams have worked out how to play them.

All that said, I think their next game is Sheffield United. If they lose that the tide may well start to turn, and the minority who want him gone will start to grow.

Newcastle should get something from their next 3 games. Thereafter they have a horrible run of games, spurs, burnley, west ham, liverpool, arsenal, leicester and man city. They may get 7 straight defeats there. The last 2 games are seff utfd and fulham

Saints next few fixtures are Sheff Utd away, Brighton home, Burnley home, West Brom away, Palace home.

I think they'll pick up 4/5 points which I think will be enough.

It's out of Fulham & Newcastle for me for that last spot. West Brom and Sheff Utd are down for me.

I think it could come down to Callum Wilson. If he gets fit quickly I think he could be the difference. Fulham look a lot more solid but they just can't seem to get a goal when they desperately need it.

Southampton lost to Newcastle recently who had 10 men from the 49th minute and 9 for about the last 20. They created nothing in that time and looked poor.
That would be more worrying to me than getting smashed 9-0 off a team in the top 4.

Those injuries are huge, but with Fulham having Spurs, Liverpool and City next, Newcastle could realistically lose their next 3 games and still have a great chance of staying out the bottom 3.

They'll be very thankful for the international break, could even be comfortable if they still managed a few results before they're back fit.
