.......or are the Carrick voodoo dolls making a return?

Missed the game this afty, saw the score at 5....😬

Take it from the snippets I've read it was very flat, poor passing, poor marking, poor goals conceded and Stoke deserved it?

Injuries/suspension to Hackney a big reason? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ho hum, on to Tuesday. Put this in the "oh, b*gger" bag and move on 👍

Bad day at the office
Lack of energy, Stoke playing well, missing Hackney, no Plan B
Few crosses that nobody was on the end of, but Stoke missed several good chances
Think we need a Plan B - as passing it around at 2 down wasn't looking like getting a goal
Only pluses for me were Gilbert making his league debut , and Rogers seems to be improving
I think Hackney and Latte Lath will be in for Howson and Coburn - but nobody could really complain at being dropped after that performance

Pretty much. Coburn was unlucky not to score a couple of times in the first half, particularly one left-footed shot which hit the bar. Second half was very flat. Stoke played well though, they were well organised.

Got what we deserved today. Poor passing, lack of energy and too many players not performing like they can.

A bad day at the office.

Barlaser and Howson both had stinkers, getting caught on the ball and regularly misplacing passes. Hackney was a huge miss.

I also feel we really missed having Smith down the right side, as VDB offers nothing going forward and wasn't getting up to support Crooks and Jones in attack.

I do feel Carrick should have changed it at half-time, although it's debatable as to whether it would have made a massive difference. Maybe it was just one of those days.

Yup. There really was nothing good to say about either of them and when you have a big hole bang in the middle of the team and no one on the bench to change things (no Hackney or OBrien) we got what we deserved. Nowt.

I don't think anyone comes out of the game with any credit (though I would absolve the subs from any guilt, the game was gone by the time they got on) I don't think there was a single player in red who could hold his hand up and say that the defeat was nothing to do with them (and Dieng was not without faults today either).

Hopefully, back to winning ways as soon as possible.

Missed Hackney(and McGree tbh) and had 2 midfielders who are set up to do the same job - Barlaser and Howson
Couple of wobbles from the Centre back pairing
Once the second goal went in we wasn’t going to come back with the lack of goals in the team.

Actually felt Crooks put a shift in. He held the ball up well at times and brought others into play.

At least he tried to drive forward with the ball at times, even if it didn't come off. This is where we really missed Hackney.

Agree with that. Crooks the only one who played well. Rogers looked decent when he came on, otherwise it was poor old round.

Yeah he linked with Barlaser a few times down that left side and managed to get in behind their defence.

Was also unlucky not to score with that flicked shot from Engel's ball in.

Just most of the team were off. Howson had a shocker. Barlaser made a couple of mistakes but actually played some very good through balls ... definitely not really his game playing further up the pitch though. Jones looked rather disinterested. Engel did ok on the whole but should have done better with the second goal ... though Paddy left him a bit exposed. Crooks played well and put a shift in. Coburn worked hard and could have had a brace ... he was very close to connecting with Jones' cross, as well as hitting the bar. He spent the whole game with his centre back dragging him back by his sleeve, which the ref seemed happy to ignore.
Stoke came with a plan to press hard, disrupt, and hit us with sucker punches. They executed the plan perfectly. All the time wasting and niggly fouls disrupted... and they were helped by the ref in that regard.
For us, passes went astray, we were too casual and not much went our way. Bad day at the office indeed.

One more thing. We looked a lot better with Dijksteel on the right.

Things didn't click, that was all. Stoke are in good form and playing ok, they could have had more but we could have scored a few too, the ball flashed across the face of their goal on numerous occasions but there wasn't the final touch.

Bad day at the office is about right.
