Songs that emotionally cut you

My Ride's Here the eleventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Warren Zevon. The album was released on May 7, 2002, Zevon described it as "a meditation on death"; it was released several months before Zevon was diagnosed with terminal mesothelioma.
This version of the title track by Bruce Springsteen comes from the fantastic tribute album Enjoy Every Sandwich - The Songs of Warren Zevon

Bruce Springsteen - My Ride's Here

Another one that gets me now is Stay Another Day by East 17. Not a band you'd normally get me, a Zappa and Black Sabbath fan, listening to BUT after catching it on a TV program and finding out it was about one of the band members family dieing it now affects me when I hear it.

I loved living in E17, so have a bit of a soft spot for the band too.

My mum had zero interest in music but seemed to hummmm the same tune. I once heard it on R2 and tears flowed, I am pretty sure in was Jim Reeves.

Soldier of Fortune by Deep Purple is a depressing song anyway, but it's upsetting listening to it now after it was played at my Dad's funeral.
