Some questions about travel and street food in London for Saturday.

Just 2 or 3 questions about London for people who might know.
1) I am arriving at Waterloo just after10am and will be leaving after 7pm from Waterloo again, what do I need to do get cheap( er) travel around London , I might visit 2 or 3 places but won't be going out further than the zone QPR is in, the last few times I have been I always seem to end up paying several times @£ 5 for single journeys.
2) Any good places to go for street food or local markets on a Saturday, I used to play 5 a side in Brixton so I'm not bothered where I go
3) A really good pub it doesn't even have to be near QPR, I thinking of going to West Hampstead for the Czech bar and catching the circular British rail around to the match, but it's been ages since I lived in London so any good tips, where I also can catch the Fulham v LPool games as well.

Borough Market is a good shout but, even more handy for Waterloo, there is a street food set up directly behind the Royal Festival Hall, 5 mins walk from your train. You will walk by the Waterloo Tap, for craft beers.

Travel - it's all free for me but I'm pretty certain if you use contactless, it caps it like an Oyster Card.

I was going to suggest a boozer I used to drink in called the Metropolitan but it's further from QPR than I remembered and it's permanently closed now according to Google

Yes just use contactless. It caps at a certain level. Lots of food stuff on the south bank. If you want to go to London bridge maltby Street market is about 10 mins walk from borough market and will be less busy.
Brixtons been gentrified to **** these days loads of good places to eat there.

Forgive my ignorance about using contactless on the Underground and on the Overground rail system, but I have just been looking it up it seems that I just tap my card against the yellow reader on going through the barriers and then on leaving, is that so? and the tickets are deducted from your card on leaving?

Yes. Remember to tap out when leaving or it will charge you the full whack. Can be easy to miss when you're packed into a big crowd going to the footy.

We used contactless last month when we were there, we were charged £7.50 maximum for the days we used it, like has been said make sure the exit gate goes green when you tap it.

sort of on the way to qpr, there is loads (albeit fairly upmarket) of street food by the saatchi gallery on the kings road just off sloane square. another good place, tho in the wrong direction, is tooting market. and brixtons good too, as you probably realise!

Ok so on the tube just tap in and tap out with your contactless card. We might drop into Borough Market for a breakfast bap and a quick pint in the Market Porter. Then over to Prince of Wales in Hammersmith to watch the early kick off and have a couple of pints.
