Sol Bamba

Fully agree👏

I wasn't really sure about him. I thought it was maybe a 'job for mates' type thing.

The key is that he's a proper 'old school' type leader. He never never shuts up and always dragging players around into position. Also a decent no nonsense CB who reads the game well. It's a shame he's not 24😂

Clearly the fact he's come back from cancer just adds to the respect he deserves. I'm sure its great for David Brooks to see Sol playing.

It’s inspiring to see him performing at the level he is after everything he’s been through. Even more so when you consider his age. His reading of the game is as good as any defender we’ve had since the Mcclaren era. You can tell from his interviews too, that he’s the type of player who is great for morale in a squad.

I was fine with him signing for us but weirdly I always regarded him as a bit of a donkey when he played for others (obviously I wasn't seeing him play week in, week out) ................... many apologies Sol.
Yesterday he was a man among boys for the first 20 minutes or so while others, many of whom were playing out of position, got up to speed and sorted themselves out. Crooks isn't a DM and was utterly hopeless in the first quarter of the game. But I have to credit the lad he stuck to his task and eventually started getting his tackles in.(y)

I've said it before and don't mind repeating it, I was against him signing but have been proved wrong by the man and need to hold my hands up.

I heard him being interviewed on Wednesday in a pre-recorded interview and what a guy. I didn't realise he was born just outside Paris to Ivory Coast parents and moved away from his parents aged 11 to live in PSG's academy. Could you imagine having to do that as a kid.

Wouldn't it be fitting of the man if he gets MOTM tomorrow & scores the only goal 👍
If he can continue his defensive masterclass I’d be more than happy. Funny how some lads have rated higher than him in terms of stats. Make no allowance for the importance of his touches.

One clearance is worth an accurate pass and one touch could be worth as much as a clearance.

There's a lengthy interview with him in today's Times*. He has a good-natured dig at NW vs. referees.

*Paywall unfortunately but there's always the public library.
