So, Why didn’t it work out for Rhodes at the Boro.

2 things really ..

First. The game changed between him banging in goals for fun at Huddersfield first time round and when he signed for Boro .. forwards needed to be more than an out-and-out scorer and needed to be a more rounded player with contributing to the build up being just as important as scoring .. and it seems he's just not been able to do both the last few years.

Secondly. Aitor didn't want him .. maybe for the reason above .. or maybe because AK wanted to bring HIS players in instead of recieving "gifts from the owner" .. Also, see Stewie Downing

Aitor Karanka didn’t want him.. didn’t he kick off after his strop when he walked out. He was really shytty ’they lost, but we played two upfront.. so the fans got what they wanted’ - or words to that effect. Karanka was a right mardy doyle wasn’t he!!

Nigel Pearson would have been fun.

I guess it would have been interesting to see David Wagner if he’s agreed in the January while we were still in the prem!

Made the starting line up 13 times, scored 6 goals. Now compare that to Sporar (crowd favourite), Watmore (crowd favourite), Connelly and Balogan (Rhodes type villains).

He's one of the reasons we went up in 2016.
I think he was banging them in pre-season as well wasn't he? Then we dropped him to just play negredo up front. I don't think he would have made it in prem tbh.

I think the March 2016 walkout by AK was about - "who is the boss" it all happened not long after Rhodes was bought for AK.

Rhodes also failed at Sheff Wed and Norwich - he was not a target man who could regularly hold the ball and bring others into the game.
