So who if anyone will do MOTD now

Lineker is actually the best of all them, his job is to ask the questions and keep them honest, which he does
Agreed. And I accepted it was a side issue and I don’t wish to deflect, but the quality of the analysis, especially on the application of the laws of the game, is so poor at times it’s hard not to comment.

My bigger fear on the main issue is that this is playing into the hands of those with the agenda of destroying the corporation. In the days of Jimmy Hill, we would not have known his views on immigration policy because he would’ve needed a newspaper article to express them and wouldn’t have had one and because he would have been a direct employee, and so could’ve been stopped. When the Tories (hard to believe now I know) got Rod Liddle sacked for being rude about the countryside alliance 20 years ago it was again in a newspaper article.

That aspect of the old BBC model doesn’t work in the social media era. But this row will be used as an excuse to suggest that the old BBC model cannot be made to work at all, and that it must be destroyed. I think we will regret what has been started here.

agreed the tories want to use the BBC for political gain now, but destroy it when labour come into power. We need to get the Beeb modernised, politically neutralised. We can't expect non political people to be quiet, if the politics and execs are not 100% squeaky clean and they clearly are far from it. This Tory Party have rode roughshod over standards and political ethics. Previous rules are no longer effective, the digital age is a game changer for all of us.

However no employer should take away an individuals right to freedom of speech if there isn't a conflict of interest. Lineker and others don't work in that area, so should be free to speak within guiderails of decency. Just because they are paid via the public purse, that shouldn't impinge on that, otherwise a call centre worker in HMRC or a cleaner at the DVLA will also be banned.

Fair play to the BBC for highlighting and bringing this tweet to the masses. 😂They have really messed this up haven't they. A alot of people who may not have seen the tweet or realise how tainted the BBC is can now see how utterly deplorable this government is.

I'm hearing MOTD2 will be cancelled.

Going to be replaced with 'Seal Clubbing Live' hosted by Lee Anderson with special guest Neil Oliver.
