So, what has gone wrong at Boro?

I only saw the second half, probably just as well really.

We still lack creativity/imagination in the centre....there was occasion when Howson ran between the centre back in acres of space and McNair didnt even try to pick him out, another time down the right when someone played a ball to Mendez and he deflty chipped it over the defender but our player didnt continue his run...........The number of times that Brit etc get caught offside, its not because they make their runs too early, its because the midfielders are not sharp enough to make the pass before the run and only make it when its too late....diabolical performance...again.

Lost to Birmingham, Rotherham and Derby....all bottom 6 clubs....im embarrassed to call myself a Boro fan atm!

It's all gone t#ts up. Goalie lost the plot, suddenly cant defend, and never addressed centre forward issue. Hoped Bolaise would fill the gap. Rapidly facing last chance saloon. Neil needs to work some magic quick!

When we have had zero depth for the majority of the season, it was always going to catch up with us, I’d say that’s the main reason.
Key positions very lacking, as a minimum you need a solid keeper and a goal scorer to do anything, we have neither. Again that catches up with you eventually especially when a few key players start to get injuries
Certainly agree with the keeper and goal scorer. Two top transfer priorities this summer.

We also need a captain in the mould of Pearson or Tony McAndrew.

Before the defeats we were regularly going a goal behind in games. Can only do that for so long before it starts to bite.

Injuries to key players are playing a part. I think we have looked less solid since we changed from a back 3 and I also think the shiiiitness of the keeper is causing massive uncertainty in the defence and caused a drain in confidence in the team. He is letting in shots a semi-competent keeper would save and when he does make a save everything is coming back off him in front of the goal. He weak on the first goal today and then let one in straight above him - poor. I really think the defence has lost confidence in him and the team as a whole know he is going to concede every game.

It’s the usual second half of the season slump, it’s always the same, other teams sus us out and know how we are going to play.

We don’t have a plan B so we carry on with plan A regardless, the plan being hoof it up the pitch and hope someone gets on the end of it.
Can't always be the 'usual' ,I don't buy that, it's like saying 'same old Boro' - there's no logic to it. Every year it's a different team therefore can't be the 'usual'.

Weird isn’t it? Even in our promotion season we struggled in the second half of the season. I think opposing teams work out how to play against us, once we’ve played them once, our tactics aren’t particularly sophisticated and haven’t been for a long while.

we missed fry, we missed tavernier and we missed bolasie

fact of the matter is: our strikers don't score.. so why bother with them?

who scores goals? Johnson? Watmore? Kebano? play them!

But we've different managers ...

What were we doing right at the start of the season? Not conceding goals. We had a settled defence with Dijksteel right back and we had the best defensive record in the league at one stage. (We had to as we can’t score goals)! Think the turning point was the Huddersfield game where we slaughtered them for the first half hour but lost and it was confirmed that Dijksteel was injured. Before that game we had only conceded 6 goals in 13 matches. Since then we have not had a settled defence. At times Dijksteel, Fry or Howson have been missing and we are conceding too many goals (conceded 30 now). If we are going to going to get out of this run we need to get back to basics and start keeping clean sheets.

I think it's time to accept the season is over in terms of optimism for play-off hopes .. injuries defo unfortunate timing but can't explain how much performances of certain players have suddenly dipped significantly. Also giving still Britt the captaincy when it should be given to Howson or McNair is irritating/doesn't make sense. He's offered nothing and he'll be gone soon anyway. Badly need to sort out our striker situation for once and a better goalkeeper is needed also.

Had no idea until just now that Bolasie was knackered and not going to be making many appearances for us until the last few remaining games .. if there's any point. We're just playing for mid-table mediocrity now. As I said it's still an improvement on last season, but I hope nothing has happened behind the scenes which has affected the squad's enthusiasm and the general positive vibes we were getting for much of the first half of the season.

No idea how we will address this in the Summer. Likes of Kabano are likely to be recalled too if Fulham come down. Still a lot of problems to think about, to say the least. Britt going, so wages off the books but replacing him with someone who actually scores goals .. I can't say I trust the club to identify the right man for the job.

I do wonder if NW will stay on or not. Thinking ahead and knowing what he is going to be able to do throughout the next pre-season, I worry he might think he's done as much as he can and be gone. I dread to think who we'll pick as a replacement if that were the case haha.

We're still a club that is going to struggle to attract the best out there available for the job at this level IMO. That includes players. We either constantly miss out or they decide to choose other clubs after speaking to us and we generally have been useless in the transfer market and I expect that will continue to be the case.

Sorry for all the doom and gloom! But I honestly expected there'd be a bit more of a challenge worthy of Warnock to hang around for so he'd defo be hanging around next season to get the job done. I really thought we'd finish 7th/8th and fall short by a point or two for a top-six position but certainly not now. At moment it feels like all that hope is disappearing and I have no idea why.

I knew we'd lose today. Shame I got a few other results wrong on my accas, mind. haha. :p

We shouldn't have lost to Derby, and then the Rotherham result, Birmingham etc .. it's been a totally different side. Very unfortunate to see that it's gone off the rails.

So aye. Definite bad vibes coming out of the club now all of a sudden. Maybe just me but it's sad to see. I thought we'd done well in the January window and after Norwich away, I was getting ready for more to come, a run due of wins we badly needed ... but it's got worse week after week so far.

Bolasie was the most significant signing we were hoping would help solve our issues up top. but he's written off already for most of the games left. Infuriating.

It'd be nice to see the club finally making the right decisions for once. An actual goalscorer and decent goalkeeper would be a decent start.
