I am guessing the ref couldn't be certain he wasn't just trying to take a free kick, as that's what he was in the process of doing when the Swansea player started kicking the ball away.
His angle will not be the same as that camera.
Won't lie, I quite enjoy that he's been booted after taking the ****, even though it probably should have been a red.
The player was trying to prevent a quick free kick... And to be fair, the referee couldn't be sure that he wasn't just trying to kick the ball and somehow didn't see the player.
If that was a free kick (which it looked like) then he shouldn't have been anywhere near the ball let alone kicking it away. The man kicked where the ball was half a second earlier.
Watching the video, he's not even looking at the ball as he starts to run, he's looking at where he's going to kick it to and then he's looking directly at the ball as he runs up to it.
That's closer to the angle the referee can see too.
Could easily have missed that the Swansea player was walking in to his line of sight and trying to move the ball away.
that is violent conduct, remember when Aliadiere got send off for a soft slap on the face of Macherano, then someone basically punts another player and its a yellow? Ref's are absolutely useless in this league, and we should ahve VAR to clear some of this nonsense up, because surely if that gets referred, it's a straight red.
He was looking away from the ball initially, but did have time after looking at the ball to see the man and stop.
Also the reaction of the teammate who then bends over to scream at the player on the floor is also terrible.
I'm not sure I've ever played where I havent been aware of the guy 2 yards in front of me at that point though. Looks like he's seen it as a free shot.
he knew what he was doing slicing the lad, made it look like he was going to kick the ball and couldnt stop, load of b***ks , he sliced him on purpose, nothing accidental about it, dangerous play 100% .... red card.. ref bottled it
