So Compulsory Vaccinations are Happening Then…..

I think mandatory vaccination is a very dangerous route to go down and I do believe in freedom of choice, even though it saddens me that so many chose not to be vaccinated based on targeted lies and deliberate misinformation, (social media has a lot to answer for) so I agree with him to a degree in that sense, but Christ, I bet all those many poor, unprotected NHS doctors, nurses, midwives etc who died in the first year wish they could have had access to the vaccines that he doesn’t want.
I know you aren't painting him to be some bad guy with that last paragraph. Isn't your style Fabio. Although the video does raise the question that mandatory vaccinations for NHS staff and social care staff needs looking at again.

Problem with pulling threads is it just adds to vaccine hesitancy. There’s so much pulled from mainstream media and information that’s fact checked by people linked with the people providing vaccinations.
Its a strange old world we’re living in

I would have hoped front line NHS workers seeing seriously ill patients coming through their doors wouldn't need any persuading to receive the vaccine.

If messaging is the problem then we need to have another go at it.

How can pulling a thread created by an anti-vaxxer, who appears to have joined the board purely to spread his anti-vax propaganda, add to vaccine hesitancy?

That does miss the point of the consultants concens though. He maintains that he as isunlikely to pass on the virus as a triple vaccinated person. I don't understand his hesitancy, nor whether his opinion is valid, but he should be entitled to make his own decision, as should we all.

We are going to decimate the NHS in April if mandatory vaccination is enforced.

Despite the fact that a huge proportion of people want to get vaccinated, we should all be opposed to this legislation. It is, quite simply, an errosion of our right to autonomy over our own bodies.

Oh, and if you're argument, and this is general, not aimed at you Borofur, is that if you work in the NHS you have a duty of care, then please don't bother. They have all demonstrated a duty of care that none of us are expected to demonstrate day to day in doing our jobs.

It was a video showing a highly trained medical professional asking legitimate questions based on his knowledge.
Pulling stuff like that, instead of engaging and asking questions, just adds to the fact that all that is put in mainstream media is a one sided argument.

I would imagine the thread was pulled not because of the video but because of an anti-vax shill subsequently spreading rubbish.

I've never commented on the video, or the consultant"s concerns or the vaccine mandate.

It is my opinion that front line NHS workers are best placed to see the devastating consequences of this disease so I'm surprised that many are hesitant to receive the vaccine voluntarily.

Fair point BoroFur, apologies.

People like the doctor in the video are some of the highest qualified folks in the NHS aswell. His opinion shouldn't be belittled because it's different to anybody else's. Notice how calm and measured he was in his approach.

At what point do the rights of the society as a whole outweigh the rights of the individual?
If someone knows they have an STD and continually goes round having unprotected sex with people and infecting them is this acceptable?
I understand part of the argument is that covid vaccinations do not stop 100% infection nor totally eliminate the possibility of infecting others, but there appears to be a lot of evidence that the risks are significantly reduced. If this reduction is proven then do the rights of society to be protected outweigh the rights of the individual?

The fact that the video was the main headline news on the sky news website at one point this evening, disproves the ‘fact’ that the mainstream media just put out a one sided argument.
In fact, that anaesthetist, as intelligent and qualified as he is in his profession, represents a minority of NHS staff that are unvaccinated. You could even argue that his minority position is being massively over represented by the media, given the headline grabbing story they made out of it 🤷🏻‍♂️
For months now, there has been frequent, occasionally even daily debate on MSM regarding vaccine passports, compulsory vaccination, lockdowns, mask mandates etc generally with both sides of the argument represented.

I agree that mandatory vax for NHS staff needs looking at again as I think any mandatory covid vaccination is a dangerous road to go down.

I think the chap in the video has the right to air his opinion to Javid, but I feel Sky have let him down badly by broadcasting it, especially as a leading news story. They have a duty of care to people and I suspect he’ll unwittingly be a hot topic discussed all over the Internet tomorrow.

He’ll be held up as a hero by antivax voices and clickbait radio/social media ‘celebs’, who will no doubt over-interpret his words and put extra stock in his credentials. He’s an anaesthetist. Vaccine tech and efficacy is not his specialist area, but that won’t matter.

And he’ll be attacked by the other side who will claim it’s shameful he’s not vaccinated and that he’s undermining the vaccine effort that saves lives and is not representing the the best of the NHS and us adding to the problem and being irresponsible.

I feel sorry for him now, as I think he’ll be in for a bumpy ride.
I personally think he would have been wiser to make his point without saying he’s personally unvaccinated, and he may regret having done so. And I think it’s terrible of sky to make such a big thing of it, knowingly playing into Antivax hands to generate interest and throwing him under a bus in doing so, just so they can generate video shares and clicks. I’ve not been on social media but I bet tomorrow morning there are lots of folk posting the video and arguing about him, and sky will have the result they want, and to hell with the consequences for the guy in question.

edit - on reflection I don’t feel sorry for him. He must have given them permission to share his name and the video. Maybe he knew exactly what he was doing and how it would be portrayed.

If i was ill with Covid and in ITU i would want the best qualified person looking after me whether they were vaccinated or not . I think i would be more dangerous to them than they were to me if they were unvaccinated.

Turns out he’s got a sideline in a ‘breathlessness‘ clinic, charges 250£ for a 30 minute consultation (but you need 2 for your initial consultation, so £500) and parts people of their hard earned by treating them with wellness practices too. Hmmmm. Little bit jumbo jumbo alternative therapy vibe here, and making a lot of money from it. Almost like a good old fashioned grift….

I imagine business in a ‘breathlessness’ clinic must be good at the minute…or at least it was until the pesky vaccines reduced the pool of people struggling to rid themselves of breathlessness…..

Its already against the law to knowingly infect someone else with an std or indeed covid. Its not a good way of illustrating your point, I am afraid.

To your wider point about protecting society rather than individuals. Not something I would get on board with when an individuals rights over their own bodies is infringed. You are right in as much as it needs to be balanced. Enforced or coerced vaccinations is a step too far, in my opinion.

It shouldn't Randy and that wasn't what I was doing. I don't know if previous infection offers the same protection as 3 jabs. I also don't know how quickly one wanes versus the other.

I actually think that it's not really the point either. He shouldn't be threatened with loosing his job when exercising his freedom to not be vaccinated.

These people always have something so sell. Anyone who doesn't agree with mainstream science jumps on these swindlers' propaganda and it begins.

As I have said before I worry about people who lap this stuff up so easily.
