So Compulsory Vaccinations are Happening Then…..

Laughing is entitled to an opinion on whatever and if he brings up malaria so what, whether he's right or wrong it doesn't matter. To bring up mental health or someone's condition is absolutely indefensible and shouldn't be tolerated on a public forum.
This is one of the reasons I dropped out of this thread. Laughing was demonstrably wrong on at least two occasions and used that wrong information to persist with his line of reasoning. Being right or wrong matters a lot if you're trying to have an honest discussion.

I actually think he asks some good questions at times and everything should be questioned to a certain extent - it just gets tedious when you have to spell everything out in detail only to be told you're wrong with no evidence to back it up.

Yes people are allowed to be wrong but what I don't like it people being abusive like smalltown was, he was doing it in a very snidey way aswell.

Maybe so. Maybe you didn't like it. But the ridiculous amount of stick I get from him was bound to cause a reaction. And, as I have often repeated, when he argued with me when we agreed I found it really really weird. Which is why I questioned why he was doing that

They probably want to stop/ limit the effect of additional waves, but anything now (vaccines, partial lockdown, full lockdowns) will help from one-two weeks of it happening, whether that's reducing cases, or significantly limiting the number of hospitalisations and deaths, but a lot of that is baked in already.

I wouldn't call the additional lockdown measures a U-Turn (unless you mean a U turn from case growth, into recession), they've just pressed the brake much, much harder.

Yeah, they are reactionary, we were very similar with the first couple of waves, but to be fair it wasn't too long ago that most places had it under control, didn't take long to get out of hand. Austria cases really only started going bananas a month ago, and they've still been doing better than us for almost two weeks of that month, and for all of the previous 5 months. It will take a while for them to get below us again mind, probably 3-4 weeks, maybe around the end of their planned lockdown (if they stick with the 20 days).

Locking down the unvaccinated slowed the increase, that's undeniable, I wouldn't call that nonsense, and the full lockdown will make it recede, quickly, which also isn't nonsense.

Doesn't look like I was that far off with Austria, they locked down the unvaccinated on the 15th, and by the 22nd it had stopped rapid growth, and then receded extremely quickly. They introduced the full lock down for everyone on the 22nd, but obviously the effect of that won't have shown up till at least 5 days later, due to the lag.

Looks like locking down the unvaccinated would have done the job on its own, which is now why they're about to release the lockdown on the vaccinated only on Sunday 12th (when they will be below us).

That's some turn around, they've practically got below us in two to three weeks, which is fantastic for them.

They will probably level off somewhere way below us (maybe about half way) when the lifting of lockdown starts to show in cases around the 17th-19th. Obviously their lock down will have stopped Omicron getting as much of a foothold there too, which is another benefit for them.

Can't really argue with how they've played their hand, and this is a good advert of how well lock downs can work, not that it was ever in doubt.

Surely that would be a medical exemption?
That's what I thought but apparently not... she said they are offering her the vaccine (at a special vaccination place) and if she has a reaction they will care for her....

So she said it's seen as her "refusing it", because they have offered to treat her should a reaction happen

I can see both sides of the argument

That other thread didn't last long.
Good. It was full of a whole pile of spoonfed antivax sentiment and covid misunderstanding, the likes of which a few ill-informed folk keep trying to peddle on here. Some naively and innocently enough, and some maliciously.
It’s F***ing soul destroying watching people, who I’m sure are perfectly decent and good folk in the real world, stay stuck down the rabbit hole, spreading the same misunderstandings and misinformation, and linking data ‘analysis’ (ie misrepresentation) and videos to ‘experts’ that they haven’t realised are part of the misinformation spreading, antivax movement (who don’t actually believe the nonsense that they are peddling, but do so anyways for financial gain) over and over again, month after month, for best part of two years now.
They do not realise how they are being played and manipulated. They remain completely blind to the reality that folk are trying to help them see. They truly believe they are the enlightened ones and those that they follow are really the truthful ones, and they ignore all the overwhelming majority of data and science which proves beyond any reasonable doubt whatsoever, to anybody capable of looking at both sides of the debate, that the antivax media cheerleaders and dark misinformation-peddling organisations and attached ‘scientists’ are being completely dishonest for nefarious reasons.
But they won’t be told, because they've been conned into believing that they are the enlightened ones. It’s the cleverest part of it all, tricking the innocent, naive, vulnerable, scared and curious into thinking they are the smart ones who have seen the light. It’s cult like in its mechanics.
It’s soul destroying. Rant over.
Sorry. Have a good weekend!

Followed by Mr Javid getting put on the spot earlier.

I think mandatory vaccination is a very dangerous route to go down and I do believe in freedom of choice, even though it saddens me that so many chose not to be vaccinated based on targeted lies and deliberate misinformation, (social media has a lot to answer for) so I agree with him to a degree in that sense, but Christ, I bet all those many poor, unprotected NHS doctors, nurses, midwives etc who died in the first year wish they could have had access to the vaccines that he doesn’t want.
