After the shocks in the group stage, the second round thus far is panning out in an entirely predictable way. Assuming Brazil win (which isn't that big an assumption at all really) that's the 6 sides you'd normally fancy to win each game through to the quarters?

Should Spain and Portugal progress then 7 of the 8 QF teams will be in the top 9 of the rankings, with Croatia the nearest thing to a surprise currently sat in 12th (after they faced a lower ranked team and reached the final last time out)

The most predictable you could get.
 
Just shows the quality (or lack of) in international football. The last 8 are probably more or less the only decent teams in the tournament. You could argue about Croatia but they have had a good run for a few years now. The tournament will really get going from the QF onwards.
