So basically with 1/4 of the season to go

We are certainly on the up improving, we'll finish in a position that certainly shows a lot of progress compared to the side that was nearly relegated last season .. but I think we ruined our chances of reaching the play-off positions losing silly home games where everyone expected three points.

It's too hard to tell how we're gonna perform game to game, I wouldn't be surprised if we beat Swansea away on Saturday. We lose against dross then go and do things like that.

I wouldn't refer to it as a 'run in to dream of' though as you have seen us losing games against the worst sides in the league and have had a dreadful home record in particular against such sides. Each game will be as tough as the next .. not writing us off as finishing in the top-six, but it would be some achievement if that happens now. I'd be surprised. It would be an unreal job if Warnock got them finishing that high after last season.

I am still expecting anything between 8th - 12th but that's still an improvement, no doubt about it. I'm more interested in how we're going to handle our business when the season ends, who goes, who comes in, and what the squad will look like going into 21/22 .. surely by then Warnock is hoping to have a side he will be confident can have a real go and will finish at least in a play-off position.

Aren't we 15 points up on the same time last season? and we are on course for 68 points for the season at present.

Still very much game on! At some point we are going to string a few wins together in a row and apply some real pressure to those above us

We are 3 points off the play offs with a run in to dream off.
That's not really a very accurate summation though is it?

3 points behind the team in 6th, but another point behind if you count the goal difference
Two teams between Boro and 6th, both with games tonight, one will still have another game in hand after tonight
Boro playing at Swansea next, one of the team in the auto promotion mix

Let's hope your summation is still the same by next weekend.

We might aswell just enjoy it now and have a real go. Yes we are outsiders but we have a chance, it’s great to be in this position after the **** show last year but it’s frustrating at the same time as we should have more points. Time to forget that now and just have a real go, it’s the home form that is concerning me. I actually really worry about how we approach home games at the moment, but Swansea away on Saturday I’m really looking forward to.

I can't see Barnsley carrying on this form till the end of the season, so I'm not overly worried by them, and if they do then fair play to them and I hope they get promoted.

Got to hope Nigel Pearson does us a favour tonight.

Our next 7 fixtures aren't easy.

And thats the bottom line, any team can put a good run together, Cardiff have, Barnsley have, even us could with our lack of fire power, if we get our good run at the right time we'll make it

Agree that we're definitely in the mix still but can I honestly see us doing it? No

I think opposition is a secondary concern at the moment, we need to sort out how we want to play - best shape, best 11 etc.

For me it's also notably that of the teams above, they're all "footballing" teams, with the exception of Cardiff, who arguably play the same way we do but more effectively.

A settled defence (and defensive shape) is paramount for the next couple of matches and I'd like to see us try to make use of our attacking options more. It's almost a case of "famine to feast" with the attackers post-January and I'm not convinced we've settled on a set up which gets the best out of the majority of them.

If we cut out the mistakes then we are in decent shape to push on. We have players coming back just at the right time, and they are making an impact. Our bench alone can win games nowadays, which isn't something we've had for a long while.

I think our downfall is that we can just inexplicably switch off at times. We self-implode, and give ourselves a mountain to climb.

I really do wonder if some posters really believe what they post. Our last 6 home games - won 1 drawn 1 lost 4 points out of 18 - 4.

Our away form is better no doubt. However the latest home results prove conclusively we are far from improving. That is the reality and no amount of window dressing will alter this fact.

We had a bad patch of results at home.
Even with that we're still 9th in the home form table.

Obviously this may be the new normal and we're just rubbish at home now, but prior to the last 6 home matches, we'd won 7, drawn 2 and lost 2 at home.

Our away form is barely different to our home form.

Home: W 8 D 3 L 6
Away: W 6 D 5 L 6

We're 8th in the away table, 9th in the home table and 9th overall.

we'll do well to average 1.5ppg over them seven games, four 'six pointers' including three in quick succession! it's all still very much to play for. OUR DESTINY IS IN OUR HANDS

we might, and I repeat MIGHT, be good enough to squeak into that last play off berth, but we are far from being good enough to win the play offs, although on the day? who knows? We are so terribly inconsistent in terms of both performances and results. How can we put in performances like when we beat up Reading, to rolling over and being taken advantage off so comprehensively by Rotherham? its unfathomable.

We are so far away from being good enough to be promoted, and gone are the days of us being able to spend big in order to sustain a premier league survival battle. There are maybe 3 or 4 players at a push that would even get into a top 3 championship team let alone a bottom half premier side. (McNair, Fry, Bolasie and Howson).

Either way, it promises to be a hell of a ride for the remainder of the season.
