Because of travel restrictions within the country.

What a disgusting world we are creating.

4 new born babies allowed to die when otherwise they are likely to have survived.

Lord knows what is going to go wrong in this world before people wake up and find their common sense.

Whaaat???

It is a shocking and tragic thing but specifically it’s an issue for Australia rather than “the world”

Cant think of many countries that would not allow children to have life saving surgery purely because of a lack of a cardiac unit! Covid or not.

The thing is closer to home we have people dieing prematurely that would otherwise have been saved.

They may not be new born babies but they are still being allowed to die.

But this story about the babies is absolutely disgusting.

There weren't travel restrictions to Sydney. It was a case by case decision by the hospital. They send 100 children a year because they don't have a city facility.

I can't find any evidence that coronavirus-related travel restrictions played any part in this. Most of the articles on it say more or less the same thing, that it was simply due to a lack of facilities:

A lack of cardiac surgery facilities may have contributed to the deaths of four babies at Adelaide's Women's and Children's Hospital over the past month, a South Australian parliamentary committee has been told, prompting calls for an inquiry.

Another mother from Adelaide with a sick baby is quoted in another article saying she had to go to Melbourne twice recently to get her child treated, so she was obviously not prevented from traveling.

Also:
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews said in a press conference on Wednesday that the children were not kept away due to lockdown.

Children who would normally have emergency transfers to Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital for the treatment are currently unable to because of coronavirus restrictions on re-entering South Australia from Victoria.

Well of course he's going to say that isn't he?

I saw this story yesterday and it wasn't in the daily mail it was from MSN outlets in Australia.

And there are numerous sources (MSN included) saying the opposite too. it’s easily proved or disproved if he isn’t telling the truth but maybe the full facts should be revealed before jumping to what could appear to be unseemly conclusions about the lockdown and its effects.

That story is more about the lack of specialist care locally and the criticism of that. Other than the quote above which is not mentioned by any of the people quoted and only by the story writer or if it was, its not clear.
