The people you mention and I presume many intelligent people who have ignored lockdown advice - know that the chances of catching and spreading the disease is quite low during lockdown. What they are saying in effect, is that people not in my position should isolate to stop the spread, but I am free to do as I please.

I have found lockdown incredibly difficult I have a very poorly father in and out of hospital and frankly I don’t know if I’ll see him face to face. I have a mother beside herself who when dad is home has been frantic with two carers coming in four times a day, who have very poor cross contamination training. She is also isolating, she is struggling alone and is missing her grandchildren dearly.


They live 15 minutes away, not once have I or they risked their and OTHERS health by ignoring the lockdown rules.

My household is taking a significant financial hit, I am furloughed and my other half is a self employed hairdresser - she misses out on government assistance because her first year accounts are 18 days outside the government package.

This government has shown massive contempt for years, this is just a culmination. You have contempt and deceit rolled up in one almighty “**** you Proles” sandwich. Anyone defending these actions has by full contempt bearing in mind the sacrifices the rest of us are making - in most cases for no real benefit due to the government **** in from start to present.

Very good post this, we have also observed the lockdown rules stringently, along with millions and millions of others, it’s been hard but looking at the government now you can see we are back to lions led by donkeys in this country.

I think it just shows we live in a manipulated democracy, the fact that those who manipulate it have gotten away with it for so long despite the tragic affect on the country as a whole means they will continue to become more and more brazen.
 
He's certainly broken the spirit of the lock down (at the height of pandemic) which was the self isolate in her own home, if you think you have the virus. If you have children they have to self isolate with you, just like another family member. Thats what people were posting on here say if you had lot of bathrooms and space you had more chance of surviving. If DC and family drove to Durham and back where did the get fuel? did they stop for a loo break? or food break? - all potential points where they could infected others and their families. If they met up with older relatives in high risk groups (say over 65s) they are putting them at considerable risk. The thing about viruses its about putting others at risk from your own actions, in some cases many others. Self-isolation is harsh to me it meant relying on others to support you in your own home. IF DC has not broken the law is looks like I was wrong.

Some are more equal than others (as George Orwell wrote in Animal Farm) I am afraid humans are somewhat selfish animals. There are exceptions say people in the frontline of the NHS turning up for work to work daily with virus sufferers, people in wars who carry others on their backs and risk their own life. Quite a few of us are not that brave, but we gave money and supplies to charities every month. But there are others who are just wrapped up in their own needs and those of their close family and its quite a large group. Dominic Cummings has shown his true colours through his actions.

“At no stage was he or his family spoken to by the police about this matter, as is being reported.”
Or
Durham Police said they attended a property in County Durham, after the Guardian and the Daily Mirror newspapers first reported Mr Cummings had been seen near his parents' home in early April.

Those lying coppers eh? Or, as this would appear to be about the 43rd different defence offered, maybe Cummings could be telling porkies? Could that ever happen.

I just find it an incredibly selfish act, knowing they had the virus, knowing they would have to stop somewhere at least once or twice and risk spreading the virus to others. And yet they have the temerity to lay down the rules to others. There is no defence for this, the fact the Tories are trying to circle the wagons to defend this is hypocrisy at it’s finest. I really cannot stand this government and the way they’ve handled all of this crisis. Can’t the Queen just sack them ffs

Thing is, by not condemning him (regardless of whether or not you get rid) you're effectively changing the rules and giving a green light to anyone who gets it to travel if they have caring responsibilities. Seems that's a price worth paying to protect Dom though.

They'll no doubt still have the nerve to applaud the NHS come Thursday though. F***ing hypocrites.

Simon Clarke mp has actually stated that if they hadn’t travelled their kids could have went into state care.

If I get symptoms is anyone available to look after my child. Willing to travel any distance to prevent state care for my daughter

What an absolute imbecile, do they even say things out loud to hear what they sound like
 
They are a bunch of born liars, it comes naturally to them and to date they have not been held to account and there have been no repercussions. It’s lie after lie after lie, backtrack after backtrack, fabrication and deceit at every level.

Something should have been done after the very cynical election campaign. We know who was at the centre of that.....

the story was always there, I wonder why it’s only being reported now, with a break in PMQ due. Is the hope that it will go away?
 
I think there’s definitely two camps in the Tory party - there’s the more to centre ground types like Jeremy Hunt an then theres the rabid mad dog far right mob that are controlling things right now

The facts seem to be changing.

Did he have the virus when travelling? or suspect he did?

Did his wife have the virus when travelling? or suspect she did?

I assume they both live together.

If either of them had the virus or suspected they had the virus travel was a no/no

If he was self isolating in Durham he should have not been out of the house while self isolating - so did he leave his parents house in his self isolation period?

We need dates on this pointers
