Smashing lads XI

Has anyone mentioned Colin Cooper yet? I’m to lazy to read back through the whole thread, but Coops is sound.

edit-yes of course they have.

Great suggestions on here - very heart warming! Nice to see how players can impact the community by being good people.

I would add Finn Azaz to this list - great recent story about how he volunteered in the community every week when down in Plymouth.

Some of my favourite suggestions include:
Sol Bamba
George Friend
Rav VDB

There was a nice story on here a few years ago of Adama Traore giving young fans signed shirts days before leaving, and having a little talk with them saying not to be too sad.
It was me SuperStu. He should've been the first player that I thought of so thanks for reminding me 🤣 . Absolute gem of a lad he was. I was gutted when he left but it was a lovely gesture from him and one my kids will always remember. The signed shirts are framed and on my son's bedroom wall to this day.

I'd hazard a guess that all clubs have a bunch of sounds lads and lasses playing for them and it's only a minority who make news for being bellends.
We've had some great examples over the years as the previous posters have listed.

I remember attending Junior Reds at Redcar youth club on a monthly basis around 1988 - Mogga was always there, and he would alternate between bringing Bernie, Coops and big Al Kernaghan with him..all where very pleasant and encouraging.
